About The Royal Standard

Historic pub next to the Cobb in Lyme Regis

The Royal Standard is a 400-year-old family-run pub right on the seafront in Lyme Regis, Dorset, next to the famous Cobb. The pub has been in the family since 1993, when it was bought by the then tenant; since 2018 it has been run by his daughter and her Greek husband, a trained chef, which is where the Greek influence on the menu comes from. Over the years there have been some minor refurbishments, but the traditional character of the pub has been maintained.

Palmers brewery and ale quality

It is one of the flagship pubs of local brewer Palmers, which has been brewing real ales since 1794. The quality of the ale has been recognised with the Cask Marque Award, which certifies excellence in cellar management and ale quality. Palmers has also recently ventured into the world of cider with its new brand, Dorset Orchards.

Venue spaces and facilities

The pub has a large sunny beer garden, with permanent shaded and sheltered areas, which leads out onto the beach and is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. It also has a dining area, a bar area with a pool table, a real log fire in the winter months and accessible toilets with baby changing facilities. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

Food and opening hours

Food is served Monday to Sunday from 12:00 to 14:45 and from 17:30 to 21:00. The pub is open every day from 11:00 to 23:00.
