About Local Ladder

Local Ladder: websites and local SEO for UK trades

Local Ladder is a British website design and management and local search engine optimisation service aimed at established trades. Its approach is built around the jobs and areas each professional wants to win, with a fee of £199 per month that includes building the site. The company works with trades across the UK, from London to Cardiff, and serves only one professional per trade and area.

A website of your own from day one

The service starts with a website built from scratch for each trade, with no pre-made templates. The design is tailored to the sector, the working area and the jobs the client wants to increase. Technical features the company highlights include the phone number in the header of every page, a quote form that works properly on mobile, and photos of your own work visible above the fold. The site is built with Astro and served as static files, which avoids the added load of page builders and plugin stacks.

The company stresses that the client owns the site, the domain and the content from the moment it goes live, and can leave whenever they like and take everything with them.

Google Maps ranking and pages by service and area

Local visibility work combines managing the Google Business Profile with specific pages for each service and area. The company keeps profile details up to date — posts, photos, services, hours and questions — and warns that an inactive profile loses rankings. The client can send photos of completed jobs via WhatsApp so they are added to both the website and the Google profile.

The service includes a separate page for each job you want to promote, so each service ranks for its own terms, and pages for the locations you genuinely cover, without generating dozens of thin pages with just the place name changed. In the first month, 100 UK directory citations are built with the name, address and phone number identical across all of them.

Reviews, AI search presence and links

The company manages Google review generation through QR code cards that the professional hands over when the job is done, and sends requests personally after reviewing completed jobs, with no automation. It also replies to every review received.

For AI search presence, the service includes structured data on every page, an llms.txt file with a plain-text summary of services, areas and prices designed for AI crawlers, and pages written with the phrases customers use when asking. The company regularly checks whether the business appears in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI summaries, and reports who appears instead.

The links and press section includes two to three mentions per month in local media, industry publications, suppliers and local organisations, with the aim of strengthening the link profile in competitive areas. Each mention is documented in the monthly report with its URL.

Trades served

Local Ladder works with plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, cleaners, gardeners, painters, handymen, carpenters, window cleaners, carpet cleaners, pest control companies and locksmiths, among other trades. The list extends to exterior cleaning, EV charger installation, landscapers, fireplace installation, paving, decking and patios, arborists, security installation, joinery, bricklaying, fencing and waste removal.

How it works and timelines

The process starts with a call and a short survey about the jobs and areas you want to develop. Within 48 hours the client receives a homepage address proposal, which they can review before paying. Once approved, the full site goes live within 14 days, with one page for each service you want to push. Around day 30, the Google Business Profile is optimised and the 100 UK citations have been built.

After that, the company continues publishing pages, posts, review requests and links every month, and keeps the Google profile updated. The company states that rankings build over three to six months and keep compounding after that, and warns that anyone promising page one in four weeks is selling something misleading.

Service model and cited results

The company says it deals with clients directly, with no account managers, outsourcing or call centres, and limits its portfolio to three new trades per month. It does not work with direct competitors: one professional per trade and area.

Results the company presents include The After Builders Cleaning Company, with around £10,000 a month in revenue from Google search within six months from a standing start; Earth Friendly Cleaning, with 30 enquiries in the first four months; Nigel Caves Pest Control, with three to four enquiries a week after the first 90 days; and Supply My Fire, with 20% more leads in three months. The site also shows work for The London Loft Conversion Company, Mint Exterior Property Services, ChargeAtHome, Clarent Precision, Speedy Recovery and DG Express Logistics.
