About London School of Massage
London School of Massage: massage and complementary therapy training since 1994
London School of Massage is a massage and complementary therapy school based in London that has been providing professional training since 1994. According to its own presentation, more than 30,000 students have passed through its classrooms, from beginners seeking their first recognised qualification to experienced therapists who want to expand their practice with advanced and specialised techniques.
The school presents itself as one of the UK's most established massage training centres, with more than three decades of activity, and notes that its students have achieved success in national and international massage competitions.
Massage and complementary therapy qualifications
The course catalogue covers recognised VTCT and ITEC qualifications, as well as complementary therapy diplomas. Among the options for those starting out are the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Massage Course, the Indian Head Massage Course and the VTCT Thai Massage Course. The offer is completed with training in aromatherapy and reflexology, with differentiated pathways for beginners and for already qualified therapists.
The school also teaches the Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) course, a specific technique within its complementary therapies programme.
Sports massage: levels 3, 4 and 5
The sports massage area is structured into three levels of VTCT/ITEC qualification. Level 3 is aimed at beginners; the Level 3 bridging course allows therapists with prior training to access the speciality; and levels 4 and 5 are oriented towards deepening assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for professional practice.
CPD courses and advanced techniques
For qualified therapists, the school offers short continuing professional development (CPD) courses and specialist training. The catalogue includes deep tissue massage, manual lymphatic drainage, trigger point and stretch massage therapy, dynamic assisted stretching, cupping therapy, kinesiology taping, on-site chair massage, hot stone massage, hot bamboo massage and an emergency first aid at work course.
Among the advanced clinical courses are the advanced therapeutic massage diploma, spinal articulation and mobilisation, oncology massage, abdominal and visceral massage and scar therapy.
Aesthetics, wellness and Eastern techniques
The aesthetics and wellness offer includes facial cupping massage, lomi lomi Hawaiian massage, Brazilian manual lymphatic drainage and sculpting, maderotherapy with wood tools, cellulite massage, natural face lift massage and intraoral buccal sculpting massage.
In the Asian and Eastern techniques section, table Thai massage, Thai tok sen massage therapy and Pa Khaw Ma cloth stretch therapy techniques are taught, both in floor and table versions. There are also pregnancy and postnatal massage courses, as well as training for baby and infant massage instructors.
Online training and other programmes
The school has online courses, including anatomy and physiology and the Adult Education and Training Level 3 (AET) course. It also offers bespoke massage training for companies and corporate wellness services.
Methodology and teaching staff
Teaching combines demonstrations, supervised practice and individual assessment. The teaching team is made up of qualified massage therapists, sports massage practitioners, osteopaths and complementary therapy educators; the school specifies that each tutor's specialisation varies depending on the course and is detailed on the corresponding page.
Training is delivered at the school's London centres, with intensive, weekend, weekday and blended learning course options, designed to adapt to each student's circumstances.
