About The School of UX

The School of UX: hands-on training in product design, UX and AI

The School of UX is a training school founded in 2016 by Sergei Golubev, a UX/UI designer and entrepreneur of Estonian origin based in the UK. Its offering focuses on intensive courses and bootcamps in product design, user experience (UX), artificial intelligence and Vibe-coding, taught by practising designers. The school operates from a base in London with a presence in Zürich, as well as online training, and presents itself as an accessible alternative to long, costly university degrees.

Courses and formats

The catalogue combines five-day courses, multi-week bootcamps and one-to-one mentoring. Featured programmes include the five-day Product Design and AI course in London, with in-person and Zoom editions, and the certified UX and AI with Figma and Lovable course, also five days. The school states that classes are small and interactive, with hands-on projects based on real-world cases, an accredited certificate, materials and slides, Q&A sessions with the tutor, and access to an alumni Slack group for networking and job opportunities. Private mentoring is booked separately.

Funded bootcamps and geographic reach

The School of UX has been selected by the UK Department for Education to deliver Skills Bootcamps across the UK, which it has delivered in 2023 and 2024. The certified seven-week UX Design bootcamp is 100% funded for UK residents over 19 years old, self-employed or unemployed and not full-time students, and 70% to 90% funded for employed people. The school also offers UX courses in Zürich (Switzerland), Luxembourg, Oslo (Norway) and Helsinki (Finland), as well as online training and team training at the client's offices.

Student and tutor profile

The courses are open to a very diverse range of profiles: from complete beginners to graphic designers, UX/UI designers, developers, product managers, business analysts and marketing specialists, from large companies as well as startups and freelancers. The school states it has trained more than 6,000 learners. The teaching team is made up of senior professionals with more than twenty years of experience at companies such as Microsoft, Heathrow, British Gas, British Airways, Vogue, WorldRemit, Transport for London, CNN, London Councils, Sony, eBay, Vodafone, what3words, BBC, ITV and Time Inc.

The school states that it complies with the Cyber Essentials scheme, is certified as a Living Wage employer by the Living Wage Foundation, reached net zero emissions in 2020 within the UK environmental strategy, and is registered in the ICO data protection register, with GDPR compliance. It also reports a rating of 4.8 out of 5 on Google. The School of UX is a registered trademark of Pixel Takeaway Limited.
