About Tamarind Kitchen

Tamarind Kitchen, contemporary Indian cuisine in Soho

Tamarind Kitchen is a contemporary Indian restaurant located on Wardour Street, in London's Soho district, near Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus. The project comes from the team responsible for Tamarind of Mayfair, which the company itself presents as the first Indian restaurant in London to earn a Michelin star. The concept brings that award-winning cuisine to a more informal and social format, in a space designed by Russell Sage Studio.

The restaurant describes its offering as a welcoming Indian dining experience, with dishes designed for sharing and a menu that reinterprets regional recipes with a modern approach.

An Indian menu for sharing

The kitchen combines regional preparations with contemporary techniques. Among the highlights featured on the menu itself are Awadhi kababs, creamy South Indian curries, and meat and seafood prepared in the tandoor. The format is designed for sharing: diners can order a single dish or several, as they prefer.

The offering is organised into several menus: weekend lunch menu, group menus, desserts, tasting menu, cocktails, wines and a pre-theatre menu. At the time of scanning, the site also advertised a special Diwali menu with specific availability dates.

The Vault Room and basement hire

The restaurant features the Vault Room, a private room with capacity for up to ten diners and dedicated menus. The company presents it as an exclusive space for meetings and celebrations, with complete privacy and a refined setting. For groups of eight or more, the venue asks for a prior enquiry.

In addition to the private room, there is the option to book the entire basement floor and its bar. The site indicates that a detailed floor plan of that floor is available for consultation.

Reservations and operations

Reservations can be made by phone or through the restaurant's online booking system. The company also sells gift cards through its website.
