Petchey Holdings, property investment in London and the South East of England

Petchey Holdings is a privately owned property company founded by Sir Jack Petchey CBE and based in London's Docklands. Its activity combines active asset management with joint venture development projects, in which it participates alongside developers and architects to deliver residential developments and mixed-use schemes.

Industrial and residential portfolio

The company manages a commercial portfolio exceeding four million square feet of industrial properties. In addition, it holds a Central London residential portfolio comprising over 350 flats, concentrated mainly in prime areas of west London, around Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster.

The current strategy is to expand the industrial portfolio through the purchase of investments in London and the South East of England. Recent acquisitions include deals in London, Surrey, Essex, Kent and Sussex. The group states it has acquired over one hundred properties since 2013 and remains highly active in that market.

Developments and works in progress

The site includes a news section with construction milestones, including practical completion of a project in October 2026, the redevelopment of two properties in September 2026 and roofing works at a Hyatt establishment in June 2026.

Group history

The company's history begins in 1925 with the birth of Sir Jack Petchey in Plaistow, Essex. In 1948 he founded his first car hire business in London's East End and in 1969 he built Clube Praia da Oura, the first timeshare complex in Albufeira, Portugal. The Jack Petchey Foundation was created in 2001. That same year the group acquired a portfolio of 220 petrol filling stations across the UK; in 2004 it bought 12 hotels and in 2006 a portfolio of 350 pubs. In 2007 it acquired a residential portfolio valued at £100 million in Chelsea and Kensington. The Petchey Academy opened its doors in Hackney, north London, and in 2013 the group began investing in multi-let industrial properties in the south east of the country. Sir Jack was knighted in recognition of his charitable work and in 2017 the company moved its headquarters to Dockmasters House, in London's Docklands.

Management team

James Newland, BSc (Hons) MRICS, has been Managing Director since joining the group in 2012 and is responsible for all investment activity, including acquisitions and disposals. Simon McClure is Financial Director and has been with the company since 2003, with responsibilities covering oversight of the finance department and support to the property team on legal matters such as new leases, purchases and sales. Robert McArthur is Asset Management Director, overseeing asset and property management and the integration of new acquisitions. Rachael Saillart FCCA is Group Financial Controller.

The asset management team includes Peter Ritchie as Regional Manager, Nick Brown as Senior Manager and Will Morris, Max Allen, Gordon Everard, James Mathew and Dom Prest as managers, several of them MRICS qualified. Julie McAvoy is responsible for residential portfolio management, spread mainly across west London. In finance and administration are Monika Sullivan, Rasa Valvonyte, Yuqi Liu, Tu Lay, Elaine Forder, Nicholas Trowbridge, Amanda Sharma and Sherie Dicker. Kubra Sahin has managed property listings and advertising on digital platforms since 2026.
