The Armoury Gym

The Armoury Gym, a neighbourhood gym in Hampstead

The Armoury Gym occupies a historic, spacious Victorian hall in the heart of Hampstead, London. The centre presents itself as a local gym and is part of the Jubilee Hall Trust, a not-for-profit charitable sports trust (Charity No. 273562) whose stated aim is to promote the health of the communities in which it operates. The gym is owned by Jubilee Hall Trust Limited, a company registered in England and Wales.

Cardio equipment and personal training

The main hall is equipped with the latest interactive cardio machines from Matrix Fitness: treadmills, cross-trainers, bikes and steppers. The centre also has a team of personal trainers who design training programmes tailored to each user.

Exercise and medical referral scheme

The gym offers an exercise and medical referral scheme aimed at people with various health conditions. The programme combines gym routines and classes to help participants recover. It is an initiative linked to the managing trust's health and community mission.

Community activities and special rates

As part of the Jubilee Hall Trust charitable group, The Armoury Gym organises activities open to the whole community, including ten senior classes each week. The centre offers special membership rates for certain groups. The website also offers a one-day pass for £5 to try out the facilities.

Events and links with the local area

The gym takes part in local sporting initiatives. In 2024 it partnered with Hampstead RFC to organise the 25th anniversary of the Hampstead Heath Duathlon, which brought together 427 participants in swimming and running between Parliament Hill Lido and the ponds. The trust also holds an annual fundraising event, Run For Your Life, with 2, 5 and 10 kilometre routes across Hampstead Heath, open to runners, walkers and beginners.

Other gyms in the group

Jubilee Hall Trust also runs two other gyms: the Colombo Centre, in Southwark, and The Westminster Gym, in Whitehall, the latter open to Parliamentary staff.
