UK Registrations, road-legal replacement number plates in the UK

UK Registrations is a trading name of Plate Finder Limited dedicated to selling replacement number plates that comply with British regulations. The company presents itself as a DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency) registered supplier and states that all plates it sells are road legal and comply with BS AU 145e. According to its own material, it does not sell illegal number plates.

The company operates mainly through its website, where customers build their order step by step. The catalogue includes metal number plates, 3D gel raised plates and 4D plates, as well as accessories. The company states it has served over 250,000 customers and holds a five-star rating from more than 20,000 reviews.

Number plate builder and customisation options

The core of the service is an online builder that allows you to enter the vehicle registration and define its characteristics. Available options include:

• Choice of front and rear plates separately, with the option to mark one as not required.
• Standard car sizes (520 x 111 mm), square (279 x 203 mm) and motorbike (229 x 178 mm).
• Oversized oblong formats in various sizes and specific versions for Range Rover Sport, Jaguar X-Type, Jaguar S-Type, Jaguar XK8/DB9 and Jaguar XJ models.
• Standard, 4D and 3D gel plate styles.
• Optional coloured borders (red, green, blue or black) at an indicated additional cost of £3.00.
• Optional badges (UK, ENG, CYM or SCO) for £3.00.
• Electric vehicle strip, restricted to vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions.
• Fixing kit or sticky pad kit.

The price shown in the builder starts at £24.98, with a variant of £28.98 depending on the configuration. The company accepts all major debit and credit cards, including Visa and MasterCard, as well as PayPal. Delivery options are selected on the checkout page and start at £3.99.

Delivery times and customer service

UK Registrations states that orders approved before 14:00 on weekdays are dispatched the same day, with next-day delivery available. The company justifies this speed by the fact that most of its customers need their plates as soon as possible, as driving without number plates is illegal.

The customer service phone number is 0207 183 6257. Telephone lines are open from 10:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday, while email is monitored from 9:00 to 17:00, also Monday to Friday. The company warns that calls are recorded for quality and documentation purposes.

Regulatory compliance and traceability

As a DVLA registered supplier, the company is required to keep certain records to comply with regulations. To speed up the process, it makes it easy for customers to send that information so that plates arrive the next day. All number plates it produces include, as legally required, the company name, postcode and BS AU 145e marking, printed in the smallest possible font size so as not to alter the appearance of the plate.

The company states that it regularly tests its products for colorimetry, retroreflection and near-infrared contrast to maintain compliance. Regarding spacing, it warns that it cannot be modified: any registration entered with altered spacing is automatically corrected to the legal format. As for 4D plates, it maintains that its plates are legal and compliant with BS AU 145e, following a testing and certification process, in contrast to other suppliers that have sold non-compliant 4D plates.
