About Follow Alice
Follow Alice: guided adventure expeditions in Africa, Asia and Europe
Follow Alice is a boutique tour operator specialising in adventure travel and small-group expeditions. Its catalogue covers destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America, with options ranging from major mountain ascents to wildlife safaris and cultural treks.
Origins and background
The company grew out of the relationship between Reto, a traveller, and Chris, a chief Kilimanjaro guide who started as a porter in 1999. In 2014, after climbing Kilimanjaro together, Reto decided to partner with Chris, Kazi and Robert, Chris's brother, to set up their own operation. Since then, Follow Alice has developed into a network that brings together local guides and international travellers.
Key destinations and programmes
The catalogue includes a selection of trips in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Among the most notable options are:
- Kilimanjaro: ascent with expert guides, high-success routes, small groups and safe acclimatisation. Duration 7 to 9 days, from USD 2,935.
- Tanzania Safari: big game viewing, including the Big Five and the Great Migration. Duration 2 to 9 days, from USD 1,390.

Trip approach
The company describes itself as a small-scale operator seeking a personalised experience. Groups are usually between six and ten travellers, with a maximum of twelve. The company offers support from dedicated travel consultants who handle logistics, as well as local guides who accompany travellers on the ground. According to its own presentation, more than 70% of the trip price stays in the local economy.
Services and adaptations
Follow Alice also organises family trips, with tailored itineraries and possible discounts at national parks and lodges for children. It also offers adventure honeymoons, with options such as Kilimanjaro climbs, treks in Nepal or safaris in Kenya. For solo travellers, rates are based on double occupancy; there is a single supplement, although the company tries to pair travellers of the same sex to avoid it, subject to availability.
The company positions itself in the mid-range to premium segment, with group tours and private luxury trips. It does not offer budget tours directly, but can refer travellers to trusted partners. Prices do not include international flights, although some itineraries do include local flights. The company accepts major credit cards, transfers to bank accounts in USD, EUR and GBP, other payment services and cryptocurrencies. It also provides packing lists, fitness advice, visa and logistics guidance, and assigns a personal trip manager.
