AJS Honey Bees

AJS Honey Bees, beekeeping and nuc supply in West Lothian

AJS Honey Bees is a beekeeping operation based in Livingston, in the Scottish region of West Lothian, which combines the sale of local honey with the supply of overwintered honey bee nucs. The business is run by Andrew Stodart, a beekeeper with experience managing several apiaries across West Lothian.

Langstroth and National bee nucs

The main product of the house are six-frame nucs (NUC), available in two formats: Langstroth and National. These are overwintered nucs, that is, colonies that have come through the winter and are delivered in spring. The company supplies them in correx boxes and works with advance reservation, as supply is limited.

• 6-frame National nuc in correx: £200, plus a £50 deposit to reserve.
• 6-frame Langstroth nuc in correx: £225, plus a £50 deposit to reserve.

The balance is payable on delivery. Reservations are made by email or telephone, and the site indicated that the nucs corresponded to spring 2025.

Honey in 8 and 12 ounce jars

The company sells locally produced honey in two formats: 8 ounce jar at £6.50 and 12 ounce jar at £8.50. The honey comes from the apiaries the beekeeper manages in the region.

Winter varroa treatment

Among the services for other beekeepers is the application of oxalic acid by vaporisation with Instavap equipment, a winter treatment against varroa. The price is £10 for the first hive and £5 for each additional hive.
