Soccer Books

Soccer Books, an online bookstore specializing in football publications

Soccer Books is a British bookstore that operates exclusively online and focuses its catalogue on football books and annuals. Its offering combines forthcoming titles, available for pre-order, with a backlist of collectables spanning from the 1940s to the present day. The shop itself notes that pre-orders have become more important since 2022, when publishers began reducing print runs to control costs.

New releases and pre-orders

The catalogue of upcoming releases extends to 2026 and includes the 2027 football annuals. Each title can be pre-ordered before publication. The shop organizes these new releases by delivery window —next 90 days, 90 days, and last 90 days— and maintains dedicated sections for books published in 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as paperbacks, coffee table books, and a 99p selection.

Annuals and historic collections

A central part of the stock consists of annuals, with series such as Billy Wright's, Raymond Glendenning's, The Boys Book of Soccer, The Big Book of Football Champions, The Big Book of Sports, The FA Book for Boys, The Topical Times Football Book, and The Sportsview Book of Soccer. The shop also brings together collections such as Charles Buchan's Football Monthly, Charles Buchan's Soccer Gift Book (1951-1972), Through The Pages of Charles Buchan's, and a selection of mixed annuals dated between 1940 and 2023. Among the publishers represented are Breedon, Pelham Books Ltd, Stanley Paul Books, and Yore Publications, alongside series such as Got, Not Got, The Lost World, Images of Sport, Images of England, and International Football Book.

Organization by categories and teams

The catalogue is structured by topic —coaching, FIFA World Cup, national teams, stadiums, Panini, business, and women's football— and by team. The club classification covers the Premier League, the Championship, League One, League Two, and the National League, with dedicated pages for teams such as Aldershot Town, Altrincham, Barrow AFC, Boreham Wood, Boston United, Brackley Town, Braintree Town, Carlisle United, Eastleigh, FC Halifax Town, Forest Green Rovers, Harrogate Town, Gateshead, Hartlepool United, Morecambe, Scunthorpe United, Solihull Moors, Southend United, Sutton United, Tamworth, Wealdstone, Woking, Worthing, and Yeovil Town. Also included are the National League South —with AFC Totton, Billericay Town, Chelmsford City, Chesham United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Dorking Wanderers, Dover Athletic, Ebbsfleet United, Farnborough, Farnham Town, and Folkestone Invicta—, the National League North, and the Scottish Premiership, with Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee, Dundee United, Falkirk, Hearts, Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Rangers, St Johnstone, and St Mirren.

Collecting and memorabilia

In addition to books, the shop sells collectables: match programmes, magazines, classified ads, cigarette and bubblegum cards, and other mixed items. It offers football shirts and a signed section that includes signed books, signed originals, signed prints, and framed signed prints. It also offers book preservation products, such as archival dust jacket protectors, and reference publications such as record and statistics yearbooks.

Editorial content and own publications

The site maintains a section of articles and blogs on topics such as Len Shackleton, Ronnie Simpson, protecting dust jackets on old football books, the Saipan incident, 1950s street football, the 1950 World Cup, the history of women's football, and pre-1960 annuals. A specific section, The Sack Race Cartoons, groups cartoons for 2026-2027, with a card competition and advertising space in the cartoon programme.
