Clockwise Credit Union
A not-for-profit credit union offering loans, savings accounts, and digital services to members across the Midlands.
About Clockwise Credit Union
Clockwise Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative organized as a not-for-profit and focused on Leicester, Leicestershire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Coventry, and Warwickshire. Rather than operating as a commercial bank for outside shareholders, it brings members together around savings, borrowing, and everyday money services in the communities where they live or work.
Membership is tied to that local area: people who live or work in the communities served may apply to join. Members can access personal and family loans, options for household expenses, repairs, vacations, weddings, cars, and education, as well as products intended to help build credit. Applications are assessed under the criteria and affordability checks for each product; the credit union publishes the terms that apply.
Savings options include instant-access accounts, cash and junior ISAs, PrizeSaver, Gold Saver, and employee savings plans. The range also includes a budget account and a rent-payment account. These options let members choose between flexible savings, setting money aside for a goal, or services connected with managing household finances.
Members do not have to visit a branch for every task. Online banking and the mobile app let them view accounts, send documents, apply for products, and request transfers. An automated phone system handles payments and transfers, while the member support team answers questions and helps people use the services. The credit union also publishes financial-wellness and fraud-prevention resources, along with account guidance.
Clockwise has a branch at 1 St Nicholas Place in central Leicester and another at 69 Maid Marian Way in Nottingham. Members can visit in person with questions about membership, loans, savings, or digital services. The published branch schedule currently lists Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; starting October 26, 2026, Nottingham will move to appointment-only service on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while phone support follows its own weekday hours.
From November 27, 2026, the Leicester branch will stop accepting cash deposits and over-the-counter cash withdrawals, according to the credit union’s notice. The change applies to those cash transactions: staff will still help with questions, loan applications, membership, and the mobile app. For cash withdrawals, the credit union points members to its collection service at participating post offices and to digital account services.
For people who live or work in its common-bond area, Clockwise combines everyday financial services with a mutual structure that directs its work toward members and local communities. Its two branches provide face-to-face service in Leicester and Nottingham, while the website and app extend access beyond counter hours. Before applying for a loan or opening an account, members should review the eligibility requirements and terms for that specific product.
