Its story begins in 1948, when founder Sydney Cope opened a shop in Leeds with the aim of making garments from Yorkshire cloth. The brand became known for its cavalry twill fabrics, Hebden Bridge corduroy and worsted wools from Huddersfield. Over time it moved from made-to-measure trousers to a full ready-to-wear collection. Leadership has remained in the family: from Sydney it passed to his son Geoffrey and today to his grandson Simon Cope.
