The company also offers specific cover for hybrid vehicles, with the same conditions of duration and limit per claim, designed for this type of mechanics.

Components covered in the Platinum plan

The Platinum cover details the elements protected against mechanical breakdowns. These include the internal components of the engine, such as crankshaft, camshaft, pistons, connecting rods, oil pump and variable camshaft timing systems. Also included are the manual and automatic transmission, the clutch, the turbocharger or supercharger, the differential, the driveline, the brakes, the steering, the suspension, the cooling system, the heating and ventilation, the electrical system, the fuel system, the air conditioning, the locks, the seals and gaskets, the casings and the control units and wiring.

The plan document specifies exclusions, such as items requiring replacement due to wear, accidental or reckless damage, components not approved by the manufacturer, maintenance items —filters, plugs, batteries, exhausts, belts, tyres and fluids— and damage to wiring due to water, corrosion or rodents.

Components covered in the Platinum Plus plan

The Platinum Plus plan extends cover to vehicles of any age and mileage, although it is reserved for retail customers. It covers engine components, the turbo unit —up to seven years or 80,000 miles—, the gearbox, the clutch —limited to one repair during the term—, the differential, the drive shafts, the steering, the suspension, the bearings, the cooling system, the ventilation, the electronic control unit, the electrical system, the brakes —excluding discs and pads—, the fuel system, the air conditioning, the locks, the main seals and the casings.

Cover for hybrid vehicles

The hybrid cover is designed for vehicles of any age and mileage, with up to three years of duration and £2,500 per claim, and is marketed to retail customers. It protects engine components, the transmission, the fuel system —excluding filters and damage from contaminated fuel—, the electric motor and its power supply, the motor control, the battery system —up to nine years or 70,000 miles, excluding cell degradation and auxiliary batteries—, the ancillary electrical systems, the steering, the brakes —without discs or pads— and the suspension.

Additional services and conditions of use

The plans include complementary benefits. In the event of a valid claim, if the repair time exceeds eight working hours, a maximum of £45 per day, VAT included, can be claimed for vehicle hire, for a maximum of seven days from the start of the repair and with prior approval from Warranties 2000. Up to £60 per claim, VAT included, is also reimbursed for towing. The cover extends to the use of the vehicle outside the United Kingdom but within the European Union for a maximum of 60 days in any twelve-month period. The warranty is renewable with the approval of Warranties 2000.
