Access to HMRC online tax services

This site is the sign-in page for HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs) online services, the United Kingdom's tax authority. Its purpose is to allow users to access the tax procedures and services offered by the organisation online.

Available sign-in methods

The platform supports two different sign-in routes:

• Government Gateway: using a user ID of up to 12 characters.
• GOV.UK One Login: using the email address associated with that account, for those who have previously used it to sign in to HMRC.

The system also allows new sign-in details to be created when the user does not have them, and indicates in each case whether a GOV.UK One Login or a Government Gateway user ID needs to be created.

Languages and scope of service

The interface is available in English and Welsh, with a specific link to switch the language to Welsh. The site forms part of the GOV.UK platform and links to the list of Welsh-language services.

Session security

The portal applies automatic sign-outs for security reasons. When this happens, the system states that your answers have not been saved and directs the user to GOV.UK to search for the service they want to access.
