Wharfedale Exterior Cleaning: exterior cleaning in the Wharfe Valley

Wharfedale Exterior Cleaning is a local company operating in the Wharfe Valley, Ilkley and Skipton area. Its owner, Steve Horne, has lived in Ilkley for over twenty years and has previously worked for national cleaning companies. With that experience, he decided to focus on soft washing and the exterior cleaning of surfaces such as driveways, patios, flagstones, solar panels, decking, fencing, walls, gutters and fascias, outdoor furniture, conservatories and other similar elements.

Soft washing and biocide treatment

The main method used by the company is soft washing, a technique that is less abrasive than pressure washing. This approach is suitable for surfaces that can be damaged by high-pressure jets, such as rendered walls. In addition, the company applies a biocide treatment to help prevent the reappearance of algae and mould. The products used are described as eco-friendly and safe, and the treatments for decking and outdoor furniture are described as pet-friendly and environmentally friendly.

Surfaces and elements it cleans

The service catalogue covers a variety of surfaces and elements on the exterior of the home:

• Driveways: removal of weeds, moss and accumulated dirt using cleaning technology that aims to restore the original appearance.
• Patios: cleaning of surfaces such as York stone, block paving, imprinted concrete, Indian sandstone and resin-bonded surfaces, with optional application of biocide to slow regrowth.
• Conservatories: removal of dirt and algae to restore their well-kept appearance.
• Gutters and fascias: cleaning of gutters blocked by leaves and dirt, and removal of mould from fascias, using a 7-metre extendable telescopic pressure washer handle that avoids the use of ladders.
• Solar panels: annual cleaning recommended by industry experts, which according to the company can improve energy output by up to 12% and reduce electricity bills.
• Decking and garden furniture: removal of moss, mould, lichen or algae using soft washing solutions.
• Rendered walls: gentle cleaning to avoid damage from pressure washing, with biocide treatment to prevent the rapid return of algae and mould.
