Shaun Allen Web Design

Bespoke web design from Kingswood, Hull

Shaun Allen Web Design is the practice of a sole-trader web designer based in Kingswood, on the outskirts of Hull, working with small businesses in East Yorkshire and elsewhere in the UK. The designer presents himself as the only person involved in the project: he designs, writes the code, launches the site and handles subsequent changes, with no intermediaries or agency structures. He states twelve years of experience building websites.

His approach is based on manual development: PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript code written bespoke, without WordPress, Shopify, Elementor or adapted commercial templates. The stated aim is for the site to load fast, be secure and convert visits into business enquiries.

What the service includes

• Bespoke web design: custom sites focused on capturing potential customers.
• Secure hosting: monitored hosting with security headers, HTTPS and built-in performance.
• Business email: setup and management of email addresses with the company's own domain.
• SEO and visibility: structure, speed and on-page optimisation designed to appear in Google.

Work process

The journey described by the designer himself begins with the client outlining goals, brand and deadlines. A fixed quote is then provided with the scope, timescales and investment. The site is then built and refined with client feedback, and before launch, testing is carried out on different devices, security is hardened and performance checks are made.

Security and technical standards

The company's own site is presented as a demonstration of the working standard: traffic encryption, restrictive headers, abuse-resistant forms and secure sessions. Measures cited include HTTPS with HSTS, strict content security policy, CSRF protection for forms with honeypot, rate limits and Turnstile, session cookies with HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite Strict attributes, privacy-first data handling compliant with UK GDPR, and regular vulnerability scanning.

Development is also geared towards measurable quality criteria: lean code and reduced load times with attention to Core Web Vitals, semantic HTML with keyboard support and clear contrast, modern secure delivery practices and structure and metadata prepared for search engines.

Pricing and terms

The website indicated packages from £500, with Starter, Essential and Complete options depending on the number of pages. Hosting and domain were billed at £250 per year, and optional email at £60 per mailbox per year. The company notes that it is not VAT registered, so the quote price is the final amount. The scope is confirmed in writing in each quote.

Clients and published work

The stated portfolio is aimed mainly at small British businesses in sectors such as trades, professional practices, retail, hospitality and growing teams. Projects shown include Beauty Within salon, in Kingswood, presented as a nurse-led beauty and wellbeing practice, for which a generic BookSolo template was replaced with a bespoke website with a booking flow covering treatment, date, details and payment; a dog-friendly holiday cottage in Withernwick, focused on booking stays; and Little Einsteins nursery, in Hull, with enquiry and arranged visit options for families.

Reviews

The Trustpilot profile showed a score of 5 out of 5 from three reviews. Published comments highlight the designer's availability and knowledge, the ability to translate the client's idea into a real site and the support throughout the process, including projects for two different businesses and a CRM system.
