Promain

Promain brings together a catalog of paints and coatings for industrial, commercial, and maintenance work. The company’s office and warehouse are in Hitchin, and it distributes products from manufacturers such as Rust-Oleum, Sika, PPG, Coo-Var, Hempel, Jotun, and Sherwin-Williams. Its website goes beyond selling cans of paint: it organizes materials by product type, manufacturer, environment, and application system.

The range includes primers, aerosols, enamels, metal and concrete paints, anti-slip coatings, fire protection, flooring products, roof and facade coatings, wood finishes, and surface treatments. The catalog also lists repair mortars, cleaners, tools, and accessories. It brings together home-use products and technical options for facilities, warehouses, commercial buildings, and infrastructure projects.

A central part of the site is its coating systems for steel, floors, and structures exposed to specific conditions. Promain groups options for corrosion, immersion, marine environments, tanks and pipelines, as well as products for roads, rail, and transportation. Organizing products by system helps customers compare primer and finish combinations with the intended application.

The store has sections for products that meet specifications used by particular agencies or industries, including Network Rail, London Underground, Highways, and NORSOK or NATO standards. A category listing does not mean every product in the catalog has the same approval; the individual system listing and manufacturer’s technical documents define its scope. Promain recommends consulting its technical team when selection depends on the load, surface, or service conditions.

The catalog also covers building and outdoor maintenance: interior and exterior paint, roofs, patios, fences, wood, road markings, playgrounds, pools, and traffic surfaces. Industrial flooring options include paints, sealers, primers, and anti-slip systems; metal products include corrosion protection and protective coatings. This breadth can help customers source materials for different project stages, although the choice depends on surface preparation and the intended use.

Orders are placed through the online store, which provides product listings, specifications, and technical documents. The company lists a standard £9.95 delivery charge, with exceptions by product and postal code; customers can also collect from the Hitchin warehouse after calling to check stock. Its sales and technical team advises on products and systems, particularly where coating compatibility or a specific specification matters.

Promain is a trading name of C Brewer and Sons Limited. Promain House at Knowl Piece Business Park is its office and warehouse in Hitchin; the corporate page also lists Albany House on Ashford Road in Eastbourne, BN21 3TR, as Brewers Group headquarters and gives a different phone number there. For industrial-coatings inquiries, the company directs customers to the Hitchin team, so the two locations should not be treated as equivalent branches.
