About HearWell Hearing
HearWell Hearing, audiology clinic in Hereford
HearWell Hearing is an audiology centre based in Hereford (United Kingdom) offering comprehensive hearing care. Its team is made up of father and son Clive and Kieran Williams, both registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), together with the centre administrator, Hayley Rogers. The company presents itself as an independent and professional hearing service, with more than 50 years of combined experience accumulated in the NHS audiology service and in major national hearing aid companies in the United Kingdom.
Audiology services
The centre covers a broad spectrum of hearing needs, from initial assessment to ongoing follow-up. Among the services it details are:
- Free hearing assessments and professional consultations.
- Advanced hearing aid fitting, with options from different manufacturers and technology levels.
- Earwax removal using micro-suction, irrigation (syringing) and instrumentation.
- Hearing tests and hearing screenings.
- Tympanometry assessments, a non-invasive test that evaluates the condition of the middle ear.
- Tinnitus treatment and advice.
- Hearing protection in all its forms.
- Workplace hearing care, with annual assessments for employees.
- Referrals to and from ENT consultants.
- Referrals and claims to insurance companies.
- Home visit service, including hearing tests, earwax removal, hearing aid fitting and follow-up.
Earwax removal and specialist training
The earwax removal service is provided following extensive training of the team at the Rotherham NHS Primary Ear Care and Audiology Service. The clinic uses three procedures: micro-suction, irrigation (syringing) and instrumentation.
Hearing aids and follow-up
HearWell states that it offers hearing aids at lower prices than some major chains, while maintaining aftercare, support and long-term care. Most hearing aids can be connected remotely to electronic devices to improve hearing at home and in noisy environments. The clinic does not charge people seeking hearing aids from any manufacturer.
Tinnitus and tympanometry
The team, trained by the British Tinnitus Association (BTA), offers advice and help to understand tinnitus, which can manifest as ringing, high-pitched sounds or even tunes. Tympanometry is described as a non-invasive test that measures the mobility of the eardrum and the ossicles of the middle ear in response to pressure changes, useful for diagnosing problems such as fluid behind the eardrum, eardrum perforations or ossicle disorders.
Hearing protection and workplace
The clinic stresses that, once damaged, hearing does not recover naturally, so it offers supply of all forms of hearing protection. For businesses, it proposes annual hearing assessments at the workplace itself, aimed at identifying potential hearing health problems caused by noise.
Medical and insurance referrals
HearWell accepts referrals from ENT consultants and insurance companies. The team presents itself as made up of certified ENT specialists and describes a smooth referral process, with comprehensive assessments and treatments tailored to different ear, nose and throat conditions.
Home visits
Given the difficulty in getting GP appointments and for those with mobility problems or difficulty organising travel, the clinic brings its services to the patient's home. The full service includes hearing tests, earwax removal, hearing aid fitting and follow-up.
Professional team
Clive Williams qualified in 1992 with Scrivens Hearing Care after passing the Hearing Aid Council exams in London. He worked with national companies at various levels, with final responsibility for NHS contracts for the provision of hearing aid services across the country. In 2016 he founded HearWell. Kieran Williams trained for two years at the Mary Hare School for the Deaf, qualified and registered with the HCPC, and before joining HearWell in 2019 he worked and continued his training with Bloom Hearing Specialists. He is the Clinical Director of HearWell. Hayley Rogers, the centre administrator, previously worked in the person care environment within City Councils, Housing Offices, Care and Social Services, where she managed social activities and entertainment for residents.
Facilities and coverage
The centre, recently modernised, has new equipment, a redesigned consulting room, reception and individual staff training. The company serves the population of Herefordshire, which it puts at 800,000 inhabitants, and also operates with out-of-hours clinics and home visits. It is a member of BSHAA and the HCPC.
