Materials and manufacturing process

The company builds its constructions in its own workshop with selected timber. The cladding is fifth-grade or better Scandinavian redwood pine, with finished thicknesses of 12 mm or 16 mm. The internal framework uses 32 x 45 mm redwood pine in smaller sheds and 38 x 63 mm in larger ones, with a stud spacing of no more than 650 mm. The floors are tongue-and-groove or, in large models, 18 mm exterior plywood. The frames have a planed finish and rounded corners on all four sides. The roof edges are also rounded to facilitate folding the felt and reduce the risk of tearing. The standard felt is polyester with green mineral, instead of the more common fibre felt. The windows are real glass, with the option of laminated safety glass. The company applies a basecoat treatment included in the price and offers, as an option, additional treatments with Barrettine products.

Groundscrew bases

In addition to sheds, Gorilla Sheds installs groundscrew bases as an alternative to concrete bases. These bases keep the building raised off the ground, preventing the floor from remaining in contact with water and prolonging the life of the building. Installation is carried out with the aid of lasers to ensure precision, and the screws are driven below frost level, providing stability against ground movement. The company highlights that this system is quick, clean, environmentally friendly and cheaper than a properly constructed concrete base. It also offers heavy-duty floor frames to level existing bases that are uneven or cracked.

Delivery, installation and coverage

Delivery is free in South and Central Essex and East London. For other areas, the company delivers with an additional cost calculated according to the postcode. Installation is free at the time of delivery, provided access is suitable and the base is firm and level. If it is not possible to bring the shed into the garden or the base is not suitable, the product is delivered at the entrance to the property. For safety and insurance coverage reasons, the company does not transport sheds, summerhouses or cabins over fences, garages, extensions or other obstacles. In case of difficult access, the company considers alternatives with the customer.
