J W Codd Ltd

J W Codd Ltd: seasoned firewood and agricultural services in Lincolnshire

J W Codd Ltd is a company based in Keelby, Grimsby, that combines its activity as an agricultural contractor with the sale of firewood and accessory products. Its offering focuses on hardwood and softwood firewood, sold in bulk or in boxes, with local delivery and shipping across the UK.

Products and sales formats

The company offers hardwood firewood, valued for its longer burn time and heat output, and softwood, which lights more easily. Formats include bulk deliveries of loose firewood and smaller mixed boxes, designed for cooking or for lighting fireplaces and firepits. The catalogue is completed with fire-starting accessories.

Quality and certifications

All firewood is seasoned before arriving at the facilities, where it is stored under cover and later in a barn. The company carries out regular moisture testing to ensure that no product leaves with a moisture content above 20%. It holds Woodsure certification under the Ready to Burn scheme, which confirms compliance with that moisture threshold.

Delivery and coverage

For bulk log orders, delivery is free within a radius of up to 20 miles (approximately 32 kilometres) from their location; beyond that distance an additional charge applies. Boxed products can be shipped anywhere in the UK via a fee based on the transport company's cost. The company warns that boxes can be heavy, weighing under 20 kg.

Sustainability and wood origin

The company states that its firewood comes from local and national UK suppliers, selected for their responsible management. As part of its environmental commitment, it plants trees and plans to rotate its own woodlands in the future, with the aim of giving back to the environment more than it consumes. The website includes a specific page about its climate contributions.
