About Visit Glasgow
Visit Glasgow: official tourism guide to the Scottish city
Visit Glasgow is the official tourism information portal for Glasgow, Scotland. It presents itself as the reference guide for organising a stay in the city and is part of Destination Glasgow, a destination marketing and management organisation that brings together the city's marketing and management teams. Its stated aim is to strengthen Glasgow's global profile through consistent branding and messaging, and to attract visitors, business events and investment.
The site is structured around travellers' interests and needs: music, food and drink, budget travel, family-friendly plans, outdoor activities, art, museums and heritage, nightlife, history, local and independent shopping, the LGBTQ+ community and sports. It also offers sections dedicated to trip planning, with information on getting there and around, where to stay, accessibility, itineraries, insider tips and ideas for exploring beyond the city.
What to find in the guide
The website organises content by neighbourhood, including the city centre, West End, Southside, East End, North Glasgow, Merchant City, Finnieston and Sauchiehall Street. In the food and drink sphere, it includes sections on top restaurants, cheap eats, specialist restaurants, Scottish cuisine, brunch and cafés, as well as bars, pubs and clubs, with a filter for dog-friendly venues.
The events calendar is another of the site's cornerstones. As an example, at the time of analysis the exhibition "Barbie: The Exhibition" was announced, scheduled from Tuesday 22 September to Sunday 18 October 2026, with a booking option. The guide also includes a selection of bars with free live music, in line with Glasgow's status as a UNESCO City of Music.
City facts it shares
Among its informational content, Visit Glasgow highlights that the city has more than thirty murals across its streets, with a specific trail through the city centre; more than ninety parks and gardens; and more than twenty-nine museums and galleries, most of them free to enter. It also offers a 48-hour guide for those short on time and a section for first-time visitors to Glasgow.
Organisational structure
Visit Glasgow is part of Destination Glasgow alongside Invest Glasgow, The Glasgow Convention Bureau and Glasgow Life's Destination Marketing team, custodians of the Visit Glasgow brand. The organisation operates within Economic Development in the Chief Executive's Department at Glasgow City Council. Its work is guided by the Glasgow 2030 Tourism Strategy, whose five priorities are to increase the value of tourism to the local economy, enhance the experiences offered, create value for residents through the tourism sector, support vibrant places across the city and surrounding region, and deliver tourism in a sustainable and inclusive way.
Services for professionals
In addition to the visitor guide, the site has sections aimed at the professional sector: conventions, tourism industry, travel trade and press and media. It also offers resources such as a brand toolkit and a newsletter to receive inspiration and news about the city.
