About Colready Highlands
Colready Highlands: Highland cow farm in Northamptonshire
Colready Highlands is a working family farm located in the Northamptonshire countryside, in the United Kingdom. Since July 2021 it has been home to a herd of pedigree Highland cows, and since spring or summer 2023 it has opened its doors to the public so visitors can meet the animals up close. The farm does not produce meat or milk: according to its own presentation, the cows remain on the farm for their entire natural lives.
Highland cow experiences
The main activity is the Highland Cattle Experience, a visit to meet the herd in the field. The farm states that this experience sells out quickly, is suitable for all ages and requires prior booking. The experience is complemented by other offerings that combine the herd visit with food and creative activities.
Afternoon teas, breakfasts and themed activities
Since spring 2025, the offering includes several packages that take place in the field, with transport in an adapted trailer to access the area where the cows are:
- Afternoon Tea & Meet The Herd.
- Tea & Scones.
- Sip and Paint, a painting session with a drink.
- Colour and Moo, a creative activity with the cows.
- Cheese and Wine with the Highlands, for adults.
- Breakfast with the Highlands.
- Trailer Ride.
The farm's catalogue shows indicative prices for some of these offerings: the Highland Cattle Experience from £5, the afternoon tea and experience combo from £30, the cheese and wine combo for adults at £60 and breakfast with the Highlands from £30.
Programmes for families, adults and people with special needs
The offering is organised by audience. There are family experiences, such as afternoon tea with Santa and the herd, and versions exclusively for over-18s, such as the adults-only afternoon tea with Santa, the cheese and wine combo or the adults-only trailer ride. There are also SEN-Friendly sessions, adapted for people with special educational needs, which include an afternoon tea with the cows and specific farm sessions. The Elfonzo and The Highlands experience is another of the proposals for contact with the cattle.
Christmas season and events
The farm schedules Christmas season activities, including afternoon teas with Santa and the herd in family and adults-only formats. The events section announces new dates and recommends checking the pages for each experience to find out about upcoming dates, as places sell out quickly.
