About Professional Training Solutions
Professional Training Solutions: vocational training and apprenticeships in Surrey and the South East of England
Professional Training Solutions (PTS) is an independent Ofsted-regulated training provider, founded in 2006 and based in Farnham, Surrey. The organisation presents itself as an approved centre with NCFE, TQUK, Highfield and Qualsafe, and states it has 20 years of experience in apprenticeships and training. Its activity is aimed both at employers looking to train their staff and at individuals seeking to gain recognised qualifications.
The company states it has more than 110 courses available across a range of sectors, more than 1,500 UK companies that trust it, and a 95% rate of employers who would recommend it, according to its own data. Ofsted rated it as "Good" in 2018 and in April 2024.
Training offer: apprenticeships and funded courses
PTS's catalogue covers apprenticeships in areas such as adult care, healthcare, early years, residential childcare, teaching assistance, business administration, team leadership, events assistance and accountancy. These programmes are delivered nationally and regionally across London, Surrey and the South East.
It also offers training funded by the Adult Skills Fund (ASF) and commercial courses in functional skills, health and social care, business and employability, spectator safety and British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications, many of them available online. The company also delivers free Level 1 to Level 4 courses, maths and English, and Surrey Skills Bootcamps programmes.
Funding and support for employers and learners
PTS manages several funding routes to reduce the cost of training. Apprenticeships are funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, with employer contributions and the possibility of accessing fund transfers from large organisations. The company holds ASF contracts that allow it to offer fully funded courses to eligible learners in London and Buckinghamshire, and it also has Advanced Learner Loans and other funding opportunities.
For learners, apprenticeships are free, as the training is funded through public funds and an employer contribution, so apprentices receive a salary while gaining recognised qualifications. Eligible London residents can access free short courses, BSL courses and Level 3 diplomas through government funding.
Methodology and geographic reach
Training combines workplace learning with online teaching and tutor support. ASF courses include distance learning with dedicated tutors and regular learner support. PTS works with learners and employers in London, Surrey, Hampshire and the rest of the South East, with some apprenticeships delivered nationally. ASF provision serves eligible learners in London, Surrey, West Sussex and Buckinghamshire.
The company also offers additional learning support, a learner handbook, case studies and an apprenticeship prospectus, and publishes apprenticeship vacancies for those looking to join a programme.
Recognition and testimonials
The website includes testimonials from companies such as RAD Colchester (Essex), Approach Lodge Care (Tower Hamlets, London), SPC Care Homes (Surrey), Bright Horizons Farnham (Surrey), Tendercare Littlehampton (East Sussex) and St Vincent's Care (Hammersmith & Fulham, London), which highlight the structure of the programmes, the support of tutors and improvements in their teams' confidence and capabilities. PTS also publishes internal recognition such as the ACE Award Winner for collaboration with CSL Partnership & Turner Hampton, and Learner of the Month distinctions.
