Millais Nurseries

Millais Nurseries, a nursery specialising in rhododendrons and acid-loving plants

Millais Nurseries is a British nursery dedicated to growing rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias, camellias and other acid-loving plants. The company presents itself as one of the nurseries with the widest range of these plants in the world and backs up its reputation with five consecutive gold medals won at Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) flower shows.

Plant catalogue

The catalogue is organised into several families and categories. For rhododendrons, the range includes large-leaved, compact, dwarf, lime-tolerant (INKARHO), tall hybrid, small-leaved, species, tender and standard-trained rhododendrons. For azaleas, it distinguishes between azaleodendrons, deciduous azaleas and evergreen azaleas.

Alongside magnolias and camellias, the nursery sells acers, cornus, kalmias, hydrangeas, ferns and companion plants. It also offers essential growing products such as compost, plant food, tools and pest and disease control products, as well as gift vouchers and gift items.

Online shopping and delivery service

The online shop allows plants to be filtered by flowering month, flower colour, intended use (hedging or containers), aspect (sun or partial shade), height after ten years and scent. The company offers free collection from the nursery (Click & Collect) and home delivery from £8.95. The site includes an online advice centre with answers to frequently asked questions.

Recognition and royal warrant holder

Millais Nurseries holds the appointment of supplier of rhododendrons and magnolias to His Majesty King Charles III. The company maintains a blog and a gallery, and shares offers and news through a mailing list.

Environmental commitment

The nursery states that it grows its plants using the best environmental practices, an aspect it highlights in its presentation and in the specific section on the environment.
