About Knife Sharp
Knife Sharp: knife sharpening and repair by post in the UK
Knife Sharp is a British company specialising in the sharpening and repair of knives and scissors through a postal service. Customers send their blunt or damaged knives using a specialised shipping box provided by the company itself, and receive them back sharpened and repaired. The service is available throughout the UK with free shipping.
How the postal sharpening service works
The process begins with purchasing the service in the online shop. Once the order is placed, Knife Sharp sends the customer their specialised knife shipping box. The customer places the items they wish to have sharpened or repaired inside and sends them to the company. Standard shipping is free throughout the UK via Evri, and the return time is 3 to 5 days from receipt of the knives. There are urgent and insured shipping options: Royal Mail Tracked 24® Next Day, costing £12 for all three shipments and including £150 insurance and full tracking with GPS-tagged delivery photos; and DPD Next Day, costing £20 for all three shipments and including £500 insurance and full tracking. With these upgraded options, knives are returned the day after they are received.
Prices and sharpening packages
The sharpening and repair service is priced between £36 and £120, depending on the number of knives. The shop offers packages for 3, 5, 7, 10 and 14 knives. All repairs are included at no extra cost. There is also a subscription service for those who need frequent sharpening, with a 10% discount.
Products and complementary services
Along with knife sharpening and repair, Knife Sharp also sharpens scissors. The company sells a Sheffield steel chef's knife designed by Knife Sharp, which can be added to the order for £14.95 and is included in the first shipping box so that the customer has a knife to use while theirs are being sharpened. The shop also offers gift cards.
Informative content and blog
The Knife Sharp website includes a blog called 'Sharp' Blog, with articles on knife care and knowledge. Topics covered include how to test if your kitchen knives are sharp, sharpening for restaurants and catering businesses, and how to tell if your scissors need sharpening. This content addresses the importance of maintaining cutting tools in domestic and professional environments.
