Postcode Lottery
British subscription lottery where the player's postcode acts as the ticket: each month you're entered into all daily and weekly draws, and part of the price goes to charitable causes.
About Postcode Lottery
Postcode Lottery, the lottery where your postcode is your ticket
Postcode Lottery is a UK subscription lottery in which the player's postcode serves as their entry number. You sign up online by entering your postcode, and it costs £12.50 a month, with a rolling subscription that the company describes as flexible and cancellable at any time. Each ticket is automatically entered into all the draws for the corresponding month.
One ticket for all the month's prizes
The mechanics revolve around winning postcodes that are announced daily. The prize calendar described on the site includes:
- Daily draws: 20 lucky postcodes receive £1,000 per winning ticket.
- Weekly Millionaire Street draw, every Saturday: players in one postcode share £1 million.
- £250,000 prize: every month except the December draws, every ticket in one winning postcode receives that guaranteed amount.
- Postcode Millions: a multi-million-pound prize in the December draws.
- Additional draws with £15 for every ticket in 1,000 winning postcodes and non-cash prizes such as vouchers and gift cards.
The distribution of the weekly £1 million prize is subject to the legal limit per ticket: a maximum of 10% of the draw proceeds, capped at £500,000. If that limit prevents the full million from being distributed within the complete postcode, the remainder is shared among tickets in the surrounding postal area and, occasionally, the wider postal district, so that the full million is awarded every week.
Odds and checking results
According to the data published on the site, the average chance of a ticket winning any prize is better than 1 in 4, calculated on the rolling average of the last twelve months of play. For the major prizes (Postcode Millions, Millionaire Street and the £250,000 prize) the odds are better than 1 in 250,000, and for the £1,000 prize, better than 1 in 2,000. The company compares these figures with those of the national Lotto (1 in 22 million), EuroMillions (1 in 139 million) and Powerball (1 in 292 million), citing Allwyn as the source.
Winners are notified by email, SMS, letter or phone call depending on the prize, and results can be checked in the results section of the website or by calling the free customer service number. The company recommends keeping your email, address and phone number up to date to ensure notification.
Funding charitable causes
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes to charitable projects. The organisation estimates that players have raised more than £1.8 billion for good causes to date, with thousands of organisations benefiting. Among the entities it mentions are Maggie's, NSPCC, Dogs Trust, Mind and Trussell, along with thousands of small local community projects. The site also states that in 2025 local community projects were supported with grants of up to £150,000.
Referral programme and TV presence
The refer-a-friend programme allows you to earn up to £75 in gift cards when you invite someone else to play. Meanwhile, the TV format Win Win with Postcode Lottery returned for a second series; viewers can register to take part through ITV.com and have the chance to win the same prizes as the contestants in the studio, broadcast on ITV and STV. Lottery players have an additional opportunity by signing in to their account.
Customer service and responsible play
The company has a customer service team to answer questions and queries, and publishes specific sections on its website about responsible play, self-exclusion, terms and conditions, privacy policy and licence and Gambling Commission details. The site also includes research reports, gender pay gap reporting and a modern slavery statement.
