HIT Recognition
HIT Recognition develops HIT Connect, a wearable sensor that measures real-time g-force and rotational head impacts during sports, with a mobile app and emergency alerts.
About HIT Recognition
HIT Recognition: head impact monitoring for athletes
HIT Recognition is a sports technology company that markets HIT Connect, a wearable device designed to measure impacts to the head during contact sports, falls or collisions. The system consists of a sensor that attaches to a helmet, goggle strap or compatible mounts, and a mobile app that receives data in real time. The company presents the product as a tool for the detection, monitoring and prevention of concussions.
What HIT Connect measures
The sensor records the g-force of each impact, rotational force measured in radians per second and cumulative impact load over time. It includes high-precision GPS and internal storage of between 12 and 24 hours. Data syncs with the app, where each impact is logged with a timestamp for later review. The device is water-resistant, impact-resistant and designed to work in adverse conditions such as rain, snow or mud. It can be transferred between different helmets.
Apps for athletes and teams
HIT Recognition offers two distinct apps. The HIT Athlete App is aimed at individual athletes and presents clear visualisations of their own data. The HIT Team App gives coaches and technical staff a complete team view, with a live dashboard showing impact data for all players. Both apps are available for iOS and Android and connect to a user's cloud profile.
Crash detection and trusted contacts
The system includes an automatic high-severity impact detection feature. When an impact exceeds an adjustable threshold set by the user, the device sends a text message with the last known location to a designated emergency contact. The user has a 45-second window to cancel the alert. In addition, users can share their data with up to three trusted individuals, who can follow their activity and progress through the platform when saved to the logbook. The company warns that emergency SMS service coverage depends on network, carrier and regional availability.
Sports and audiences it targets
The device is designed for any sport involving collisions, falls or unpredictable impacts. The company specifically mentions rugby, cycling, equestrian sports, snow sports and youth sports. It targets three user profiles: athletes, who want real-time data to train and recover; parents, who want to monitor their children's impacts during training and matches; and coaches and teams, who need to supervise the whole squad from the sidelines with a live dashboard.
Development and validation
According to the company, HIT Connect has been developed alongside elite athletes and coaches from various disciplines and has been tested in real competition environments. The company states that the device has been used by professional skiing, mountain biking and road cycling athletes, and that it is designed to be accessible at all levels, from grassroots to elite.
Product and availability
HIT Recognition's catalogue includes the HIT Connect 2.0 sensor, accessories and other products. The company states that the device is available with global shipping and is priced at 135 GBP. The online store shows the purchase process and the option to compare devices.
