MorphCostumes

Costumes, Morphsuits, and accessories for adults, children, and groups from an Edinburgh brand founded in 2009.

About MorphCostumes

A costume changes someone’s entrance to a party before a word is spoken. MorphCostumes built a business around that possibility. Three Edinburgh friends—Gregor Lawson, Fraser Smeaton, and Ali Smeaton—started in 2009 with full-body suits in solid colors. From that first Morphsuit came a costume store for adults, children, and groups.

The idea followed a friend’s arrival at a gathering dressed head to toe in blue. The suit drew attention but was uncomfortable and hard to see through. The founders worked on fabric and fit that allowed a wearer to see out while keeping the face covered. That story still defines the original product, even though the catalog now extends far beyond spandex bodysuits.

The website organizes costumes by occasion, theme, and age: Halloween, Christmas, historical parties, animals, pirates, superheroes, and film or TV characters. It includes individual, couple, and family options, as well as inflatable suits and accessories such as masks, capes, and wigs. A group aiming for a coordinated look can compare sizes and characters before ordering together.

The difference between a mask, a conventional clothing-based costume, and a full Morphsuit matters in use. Face coverage, visibility, ventilation, movement, and cleaning vary by model. Photos show the effect, but a product listing and size chart help decide whether someone can walk, dance, or spend several hours comfortably in it.

MorphCostumes serves different countries through local versions of its online store. Availability and shipping are calculated for the selected country, and some lines may differ. The brand’s Scottish history does not turn its headquarters into a public store: the purchasing experience described here is online.

The catalog includes licensed designs and the company’s own ideas. For a themed party, check whether accessories shown in a photo are included or sold separately. Delivery times, returns, and fabric care are worth reviewing before an event with a fixed date; an invitation will not wait for a delayed parcel.

MorphCostumes turns a party idea into a recognizable presence. The brand expanded from six colors into worlds of characters and group looks, but one useful question remains for shoppers: how will a suit look when it enters the room, and how will it feel an hour later? A good costume needs to answer both.
