ValeCheck

ValeCheck: vehicle history reports and valuations in the UK

ValeCheck is an online service that provides UK vehicle history reports. Its aim is to give buyers complete information before purchasing a car, whether through a private sale, a dealership, an auction or a listing on platforms such as AutoTrader or eBay. The company operates under the legal name Silverback Customs UK Ltd.

How the service works

The process starts with entering the vehicle registration, which can be any UK plate. From there, the system carries out a comprehensive check covering history, provenance, mileage, photographs and market value. The result is presented in a clear report which, in the case of the ValeCheck Plus product, also includes an estimate of the vehicle's actual value.

What ValeCheck checks

The standard ValeCheck report covers the following:

• Vehicle history
• Provenance
• Write-off history
• Outstanding finance
• Theft or scrapped markers
• MOT and mileage
• Keeper and registration history

This data is provided by Experian, as stated on the site.

Products and pricing

ValeCheck offers two distinct products, not as basic and advanced versions, but for different needs:

• ValeCheck Check (£9.99): aimed at buyers who want to know the vehicle's background. It includes history, provenance, write-off, finance, theft/scrapped, MOT and mileage, and keeper history.
• ValeCheck Plus (£12.99): for those who need to know whether the car is worth the asking price. It adds market valuation, retail value, trade value, comparable vehicles, market assessment and resale estimate.

The site allows you to view a sample report and offers a free registration check with instant results.

Target audience

The service is aimed at private buyers, dealership buyers, auction buyers and buyers of written-off vehicles. The company emphasises the importance of not relying solely on what the listing says, as it only reflects what the seller wants to show.
