LKQ SYNETIQ presents itself as the UK's leading vehicle dismantling and recycling specialist. The company works with individuals looking for used parts and with businesses that want to maximise the financial and environmental return of their vehicles. Its activity combines vehicle dismantling, the supply of second-hand parts and the sustainable management of fleets and salvage.

Second-hand parts and dismantling
The supply of non-safety-critical original used parts (OEM) is one of the pillars of the business. The catalogue covers car and motorcycle parts for almost any make and model, with the aim of offering a more economical and sustainable alternative to new parts. The company also carries out vehicle dismantling to recover reusable components.
Solutions for businesses and fleets
LKQ SYNETIQ offers comprehensive, sustainable solutions for any type of vehicle, aimed at businesses that need to manage the end of life of their fleets or maximise the value of damaged vehicles. Among its initiatives for large fleets is MyGreenFleet, a programme that offers savings through the use of recycled repair parts.
The company also has specific solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles, a growing area within the automotive recycling sector.
Salvage vehicle auctions
Through IAA Salvage Auction, the company participates in the auction of damaged vehicles. This line of activity dates back to 1996, when the group launched its own online auction platform, 4salvage.co.uk, to sell accident-damaged vehicles.
History: from Doncaster Motor Spares to LKQ SYNETIQ
The group's history dates back to 1939, when Sydney Martin founded Doncaster Motor Spares. In 1974, John Schofield created Car Transplants at just 20 years old. In 1985, Eric Martin handed control of Doncaster Motor Spares to his sons Richard and Dave Martin. In 1991, Foreign Auto Breakers was established, initially as a BMW specialist. In 1997, Dave Harcourt started DH Systems, an IT support and software company based in Edinburgh. A year later, in 1998, Car Transplants created Nationwide Auto Salvage Amalgamation (NASA) and the Motorhog brand was born, accompanied by a new auction website.
In 2010, MyGreenFleet was launched. In 2012, FAB Recycling won a contract with the UK Home Office to dismantle police cars. In 2019, Car Transplants, DH Systems, FAB Recycling and Motorhog merged, giving rise to SYNETIQ. That same year, SYNETIQ acquired Motorman Ltd, based in St Albans, dedicated to fleet management and parts supply. In 2022, IAA acquired SYNETIQ, and in 2023 the company joined the RB Global group. In 2025 it adopted the name LKQ SYNETIQ.
Sustainability and environmental commitment
Sustainability is central to the company's activity. Its Road to Tomorrow programme defines objectives in three areas: the planet, people and partners. This roadmap structures both the short and long-term approach to moving towards a more sustainable business model.
