Niche Zero and Duo home grinders with conical or flat burrs, stepless adjustment, replacement parts, and guides for use, cleaning, and calibration.

About Niche Coffee

Niche Coffee grew out of a specific household problem: grinding coffee at home with equipment designed for commercial settings. In 2014, founder Martin Nicholson identified large, noisy machines that retained too much ground coffee between uses. The response was to develop a single-dose grinder intended to reduce that retention and simplify everyday preparation.

The company spent the next four years turning the idea into a product. A small team worked on engineering and development, producing more than thirty prototypes before arriving at the Niche Zero. Initial manufacturing was funded through Indiegogo. That history explains why the catalog focuses on home grinders: the starting point was adapting the tool to domestic use rather than bringing a coffee-shop machine home unchanged.

Niche Zero uses 63-millimeter conical burrs. Its stepless adjustment allows the grind size to be changed with a dial, and operation comes down to adding coffee and flipping the switch. Ease of use is part of the brand’s design, alongside control over grinding and preparing one dose at a time.

Niche Duo develops the approach with 83-millimeter flat burrs. The company explains that different burrs can respond differently to brewing methods and flavor profiles. Its patented design makes switching burr sets straightforward, allowing the grinder to be adapted to the chosen method. That is a significant technical difference from the Zero, alongside the burr geometry and size.

Support continues after the purchase. Getting-started guides and manuals are available for both models; Niche Zero also has cleaning, calibration, and recipe instructions. The catalog includes replacement parts. These resources help owners understand and maintain their equipment without turning every adjustment or cleaning task into a separate search for instructions.

Niche describes itself as a small family-run company and organizes its work around simplicity, build quality, innovation, and community. Its blog covers topics such as precision scales and setting up a home coffee station. Together, these provide a specialized introduction to home equipment: two grinder families, their technical differences, and documentation for using them in an everyday brewing routine.
