About Alfa Holidays
Alfa Holidays, coach holidays across the UK and Ireland
Alfa Holidays is a coach holiday operator based in Chorley (Lancashire) that sells stays and tours across England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Jersey. Its offer combines coach travel from local pickup points with accommodation in its own or partner hotels, and most programmes include breakfast, dinner and excursions as per the published itinerary.
Holiday types
The catalogue is organised into several formats: coach holidays with return travel from a pickup point near the customer's home; hotel stays where travellers make their own way and join at the hotel; and a mixed self-drive option with coach excursions. These are complemented by themed breaks such as weekend escapes, festive holidays, rail tours and royal-themed packages. The company also sells stays at its own hotels and handles group bookings.
How pickups work
Coach holidays depart from an extensive network of pickup points across the UK. Customers are collected near their home town and transferred to one of the company's interchange hubs, where they connect with the tour coach that will take them to their destination. Destinations are grouped by region: Central, East, North East & Yorkshire, North West, South and South East, South West England, plus Ireland, Jersey, Scotland, Wales and the so-called Mystery Breaks.
Hotel network and refurbishments
The company states it operates 25 own hotels under the Alfa Hotels brand, formerly Leisureplex Hotels, as well as partner accommodation. According to its own information, it invests several million pounds a year in updating these properties: in 2025, bars, lounges and dining rooms were refurbished at the Royal Hotel in Weymouth, the Norfolk Royale in Bournemouth and the George IV in Criccieth. For the following year it announces a multi-million-pound investment in the Derwentwater, its newest hotel in the Lake District, a new entertainment venue at the Regina in Torquay and new lounges at the Selborne in Dunoon and the Anchor Head in Weston-super-Mare.
Fleet and environmental standards
The company says it is expanding its fleet of Mercedes Tourismo coaches and plans to invest more than £4 million over three years to reach 70 vehicles, with six additions in 2026. All its coaches meet the Euro 6 standard, and at its hotels it is introducing measures to reduce energy and water consumption, with solar panels already installed at its new head office and at the Shanklin, Eliot and Norfolk Royale hotels, and planned for 2026 at the Cavendish, the Bayshore and the Royal Norfolk.
Employee ownership and awards
Alfa Holiday Group has been employee-owned for more than ten years: staff, from the reservations team to drivers, interchange porters and hotel and head office personnel, participate as co-owners of the business. The company presents itself as a recommended provider by the consumer organisation Which?, after featuring in its 2026 best coach holiday companies report based on a survey of more than 1,300 British travellers. It also states that its hotels have received the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice award for the last five years.
Catalogue and customer service
The website shows occasional offers with discounts on the previous price for destinations such as Blackpool, Dunoon, Great Yarmouth, Bridlington and Fort William, with departures in October and November and durations of four to five days. The company also publishes a 2027 coach holiday brochure and provides a pickup point finder, agent area, gift vouchers and a service to pay the balance of a booking. Booking enquiries are handled by phone.
