About Pinks Vehicle Leasing

Pinks Vehicle Leasing: vehicle leasing for businesses and individuals

Pinks Vehicle Leasing is an independent vehicle leasing service aimed at business owners, company directors, employees and individuals. The firm explicitly presents itself as not being a comparison site: it does not publish mass listings of offers, but instead works from each client's specific circumstances, their business structure, their tax position and their actual vehicle needs.

The service covers four main structures: business contract hire, finance lease, personal contract hire and salary sacrifice, a scheme through which employees access a vehicle in exchange for a reduction in their gross salary.

A model based on real availability, not price lists

The company explains that leasing rates change constantly due to factors such as manufacturer incentive programmes, funder pricing, stock availability, global supply chain pressures and the quarterly or year-end targets of brokers and dealers. For that reason, instead of showing prices that may become outdated, the process consists of gathering the client's brief — monthly cost, CO2 emissions, preference for an electric vehicle, specific brand — and going to the market to obtain what is genuinely available at that moment.

Support beyond signing the contract

Pinks Vehicle Leasing describes a service model that does not end with the delivery of the contract. The first contact is made via WhatsApp or a phone call, with no forms or automated responses, and direct dealing with the person in charge. The company states that it aims to be present both at vehicle delivery and at collection at the end of the contract, to resolve questions about specifications, condition, handover documentation, condition reports, fair wear and tear and mileage reconciliation.

The four leasing structures

Business contract hire (BCH)

This is the most common structure for UK businesses. The vehicle is leased in the company's name for an agreed term and annual mileage, with fixed monthly payments and return at the end. There is no balloon payment and no residual risk. Among its features, the company notes that VAT-registered businesses can reclaim 50% of the VAT on cars and 100% on vans and commercial vehicles; payments are deductible against corporation tax, up to 100% for cars with emissions below 50 g/km; the vehicle is kept off balance sheet; there is no disposal risk at the end of the term; and maintenance packages are available at a fixed monthly cost covering servicing, tyres and breakdowns. If the vehicle is used for personal journeys, a Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) charge applies, which for electric vehicles stands at 3%.

Finance lease

It allows a business to use a vehicle without owning it, but with a key difference from contract hire: the business assumes the residual value risk at the end of the term. At the end of the contract, the vehicle is sold; if it achieves more than expected, the surplus is shared with the business, and if it achieves less, the shortfall may be absorbed. The vehicle appears on the balance sheet as an asset and the lease obligation as a liability. It is often chosen when contract hire is not available — for example, for certain commercial or specialist vehicles — when the aim is to benefit from a higher residual value outcome, or when accounting treatment requires the asset to be capitalised. VAT is spread across the monthly instalments rather than charged upfront, and payments are fully deductible as a business expense.

Personal contract hire (PCH)

It works in the same way as business contract hire, but the contract is signed in a personal name rather than the company's. It is the appropriate structure when a director or individual wants the vehicle personally, when there is no VAT-registered business that can take on the contract, or when personal use is the main purpose and the BIK implications of a business agreement would outweigh the VAT advantage. The instalments include VAT and are not recoverable, and the vehicle does not interact with the company accounts.

Salary sacrifice

This is an employer-managed scheme that allows employees to lease a vehicle in exchange for a reduction in gross salary. Because the reduction occurs before tax and National Insurance are calculated, both employer and employee save. The saving is particularly attractive for electric vehicles: with a BIK rate of 3% in 2025/26, an employee driving an electric vehicle under this scheme pays very little tax on the benefit. The company states that it operates salary sacrifice schemes for businesses of all sizes.

Tax: VAT, corporation tax and Benefit-in-Kind

The firm details the main tax advantages of leasing for UK businesses. As regards VAT, registered businesses can reclaim 50% of the VAT on car lease payments, regardless of personal use; 100% only if exclusively business use can be demonstrated, which is very difficult for cars. For vans and commercial vehicles, 100% reclaim is standard. The company gives an example: on a lease of £400 per month, a registered business reclaims £40 per month — £480 per year — under the 50% rule, which over a four-year term amounts to nearly £2,000 in recovered VAT. A personal contract reclaims nothing.

With regard to corporation tax, payments are deductible. For cars with emissions of 50 g/km or less — including all electric vehicles — 100% of the rental cost is deductible; above 50 g/km, the deductible proportion is 85%, applicable to the business portion of the cost.

On Benefit-in-Kind (BIK), when a company car is available for personal use by a director or employee, HMRC treats it as a taxable benefit. It is calculated as a percentage of the vehicle's list price, set by the CO2 emissions band. For 2025/26, the company states: fully electric vehicles, 3%; plug-in hybrids of 1 to 50 g CO2/km, between 6% and 19% depending on electric range; and petrol and diesel, between 23% and 37% depending on emissions.
