Mountain Mania Cycles

Mountain Mania Cycles, a group of cycling shops in the south of England

Mountain Mania Cycles presents itself as one of the leading independently owned groups of bicycle shops in the south of England. Its origins date back to Tring (Hertfordshire) in 1997; it later opened stores in Didcot (Oxfordshire) and, more recently, in Carterton, in west Oxfordshire. The company is part of the Balfa UK group, founded in 2001 as a specialist importer and distributor of high-end, niche and bespoke cycling products.

The company attributes its position among the area's independent cycling retailers to its customer service approach and the backing of certain brands. It also notes that this work has been recognised in the industry with the Fenwick's Independent Retailer of the Year award and several Bike Biz Awards nominations.

Bikes and e-bikes for different disciplines

Mountain Mania Cycles' catalogue covers electric and conventional bikes for a wide range of uses. E-bike categories include cargo, compact or folding, hybrid and mountain, including full suspension and hardtail. In non-electric bikes, it offers road, adventure and gravel, trekking, BMX, cyclocross, folding, hybrid, kids and leisure models, as well as mountain, road, scooters, street and dirt, triathlon and urban.

The shop also sells scooters, with street and dirt and urban options.

The Road Room, a space specialising in road cycling

In 2011, as a natural progression and expansion of Mountain Mania Cycles, the decision was taken to open The Road Room as a specialist store dedicated to the needs of road cyclists. The success of this format has led to the inclusion of specific segregated areas in all stores.
