Wire Fence, supplier of certified wire mesh and gabions in the United Kingdom

Wire Fence is a British company founded in 2018 that specialises in the supply and custom fabrication of wire mesh and gabion baskets. The company presents itself as a supplier of certified and tested products, with a catalogue ranging from fencing mesh to complete fencing systems and installation accessories. Its warehouse is located in Burton-on-Trent, from where it distributes throughout the United Kingdom, including remote locations.

Mesh and panel catalogue

The Wire Fence range is organised into several product families. The mesh and netting section includes chicken wire mesh, mesh panels cut to size, galvanised panels, Galfan coated panels, PVC coated panels, cattle panels, PVC coated mesh, stainless steel mesh and welded wire mesh. The company sells these products in different formats, heights, lengths and wire diameters, and offers filters on its website to select the appropriate strength and dimensions.

Fencing for animals and pets

A significant part of the catalogue is aimed at containing or excluding animals. Wire Fence offers specific mesh for aviaries, badger proof fencing, cat fencing, cattle fence, dog fencing —with variants for small, medium and large breeds—, dog panels cut to size, freestanding dog barriers, deer fencing, fox proof fencing, mouse and rodent mesh, pig fence, poultry fencing, rabbit fencing and sheep fencing. The website invites you to select the animal species you wish to contain or keep out to access the corresponding products.

Fencing, gabions and accessories

In addition to mesh, the company supplies wire fencing, chain link, security fencing, stock fencing and tree guards. In the gabion section it offers gabion baskets, made to measure gabions, filling stone and a stone calculator. Accessories include helicoil spiral, backfilling panels, geotextile, corner braces (anti bulge), bracing and lacing wire, wire clips, mattress accessories and tools, barbed wire, cable ties, hog rings and pliers, T posts, T post reinforcement strut, pegs, radisseurs, staples and tensioning wire.

Custom fabrication and quality standards

Wire Fence custom fabricates gabion baskets and wire mesh. According to the company's information, most products have been tested and certified by recognised third-party bodies in the construction sector: gabions have BBA testing and ISO certification, and wire mesh has ISO certification. The website indicates that each product shows the specific certificates it holds on its page. The company states that it only sells high-quality products to guarantee value for money and durability.

Shipping, returns and customer service

The company offers delivery throughout the United Kingdom, including remote locations. Orders for standard products placed before 11:00 can be delivered the next day, with the exception of custom-sized products and remote locations. Standard-sized orders are covered by a return guarantee. Customer service is provided by phone, email and live chat, the latter available Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:00. The company also has a trade account and a quote service for the sector.

Practical experience and help resources

Wire Fence maintains that some of its products can be difficult to understand or install, so it requires all its employees to gain practical experience with them. As an example, the company mentions that its team has installed a chain link fence, protected a garden fence against cats, made crowns and bells with chicken wire, built an insect hotel with a gabion and installed a gabion bench. The website brings together more than 100 help videos, mesh comparison tables, metric and imperial conversion tables and gauge conversion tables, and a blog with customer projects.

Commitment to charitable causes

Since 2021, Wire Fence has donated to its charity partner Dogs 4 Rescue and contributes monthly with products to other animal protection organisations. The company also offers discounts for charities and publishes community initiatives, such as the installation of gabion benches and arches in public spaces and support for schools. At the time of the analysis, the website indicated that £4,715 had been raised in monthly donations.
