Posillipo is an Italian restaurant group with three locations in Kent: Broadstairs, Canterbury and Faversham. The business traces its origins to 1994, when Vincenzo Esposito and Espedito Tammaro founded the first restaurant in Broadstairs after meeting at a culinary school in the Posillipo hills overlooking Naples. The company describes the venture as an effort to bring the flavours of their homeland to diners in England.

Three restaurants and their openings

The Broadstairs restaurant opened in June 1994 and was the group's first site. A second restaurant followed in Canterbury in December 2004, and a third opened in Faversham in March 2010. Each location maintains its own menu, and the group also operates a takeaway service alongside the dining rooms.

The kitchen and the family behind it

Luca Tammaro, son of co-founder Espedito Tammaro, is the head chef at the Broadstairs restaurant. The group presents its cooking as an extension of family tradition, with techniques passed down between generations. Vincenzo Esposito and Espedito Tammaro remain listed as directors.

What the menus cover

The kitchen focuses on Neapolitan cooking. Wood-fired pizza and pasta dishes form the core of the offer, complemented by daily specials in which the chefs prepare dishes outside the regular menu. The drinks selection includes an extensive Italian wine list, spanning reds and whites, as well as a range of Italian artisan beers.

Posillipo offers private dining rooms intended for intimate gatherings, celebrations and business meetings. The rooms are presented with decorated interiors, ambient lighting and furnishings aimed at a quieter setting. The group also provides customised services for these events, including personalised menus developed in coordination with the client.
