About Tradesure Insurance Services
Tradesure Insurance Services, a broker specialising in the motor trade
Tradesure Insurance Services is an independent, family-run insurance broker based in Birmingham, dedicated to meeting the needs of the vehicle trade and repair sector. The firm was founded in 1965 as a trading name of Norton Insurance Brokers, established by Chris Wilkinson, and began by offering road risk cover to operators in the sector who were starting out. Its sister brand, Heritage Classic Car Insurance, focused on personal insurance.
The company presents itself as independent and not tied to or owned by any insurer, which allows it to work with a panel of specialist insurers and offer different policy options. In 2002, Mark Wilkinson, the founder's son, joined the business, taking on the role of managing partner in 2014; today Chris Wilkinson serves as Chairman and Mark Wilkinson as Managing Director. The firm retains its family character and a service model in which the client deals with the same person throughout the contractual relationship.
Cover for the motor trade
The broker's offering is built around the legal and operational needs of those who trade in, repair or store vehicles. Road risk cover is the foundation required by law for operators in the sector, and it is offered at three levels:
- Third party: covers damage caused to other people and their property in the event of an accident, without covering your own.
- Third party, fire and theft: adds cover for fire damage to or theft of vehicles to the above.
- Comprehensive: includes the above covers, damage to your own vehicle and the ability to claim for personal injury.
For businesses with premises where vehicles or tools are stored, or where work is carried out, the firm offers combined motor trade insurance, which also protects the premises. According to the company, this type of policy can combine road risk, public liability, employers' liability and other covers such as cash on premises or tools in transit.
Commercial fleets and driving options
When a business has three or more vehicles, Tradesure offers a commercial fleet policy that groups them under a single renewal and allows vehicles to be added or removed with a simple phone call. Unlike conventional road risk insurance, this option can include social, domestic and pleasure use of the vehicles.
As for drivers, the policy allows named drivers to be designated or open driving options to be applied: any driver over 21, over 25 or over 30. The firm also handles renewals of existing policies.
Other covers and services
In addition to motor trade-specific insurance, the broker offers public liability, employers' liability, business insurance, home insurance, commercial fleet insurance and cyber insurance. The site includes sections for guides, blog, partners, optional extras and a recommend a friend and get rewarded programme for customers, as well as a contact channel for customers experiencing financial difficulties and another for making a claim.
The company publishes its own informative content, such as a study on how driving has changed since the pandemic and its impact on the second-hand car market, delays to driving tests and the cost of fuel, as well as analysis of the 2025 UK Budget and its effect on businesses in the sector.
Recognition and scope of activity
The firm announces that it has received the Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award in 2024 and 2025 for the quality of its customer service. Its activity is aimed expressly at UK residents, excluding Northern Ireland, as well as the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
Tradesure Insurance Services operates as a trading name of Norton Insurance Brokers Ltd, a company authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and registered in England and Wales with number 769110.
