Cousins Furniture
A family-run furniture retailer with four showrooms across the Midlands and northern England, plus online shopping, established brands, and bespoke furniture studios.
About Cousins Furniture
Cousins Furniture’s story combines a family business with a group of home-furnishing showrooms. The original family business was established in 1921 and dealt in materials reclaimed from demolitions; the Cousins name began in 1984, when Robert and Edward Shotton and their cousin William prepared the next commercial chapter. The first furniture store opened in Tyseley, Birmingham, in 1985.
Four showrooms let customers explore the range in person: the flagship store in Tyseley, Birmingham, plus locations in Dudley, Shrewsbury, and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Each store brings together furniture for several rooms and presents collections by style and brand. Online shopping complements an in-store visit, while sales staff can help with pieces, measurements, and combinations for a home.
The living-room section includes two-, three-, and four-seat sofas, armchairs, corner sofas, recliners, and sofa beds, along with coffee tables, sideboards, display cabinets, and TV units. The selection spans fabric and leather upholstery as well as additional seating and occasional furniture. Rather than focusing on one uniform line, the showrooms arrange room settings where shoppers can compare shapes, finishes, and sizes.
Dining and bedroom furniture have a similar presence in the catalog. Cousins sells tables and chairs, dining sets, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, chests, and bespoke bedroom furniture; it also carries home-office furniture, carpets and flooring, garden furniture, lighting, and accessories. The breadth lets customers furnish several rooms through one retailer, from a bed or mattress to the finishing pieces for a space.
Brands listed by the company include Parker Knoll, G Plan, Ercol, Collins & Hayes, Duresta, Tempur, Relyon, and Venjakob. Its Cousins Bespoke studios let customers design made-to-measure upholstered sofas and chairs, and the company also offers bespoke beds and bedroom furniture. These specialist studios are located in the Dudley and Shrewsbury stores, where choices about fabrics, dimensions, and configuration are part of the selection process.
The four showroom addresses are 770 Warwick Road, Tyseley, Birmingham B11 2EW; 27 Hall Street, Dudley DY2 8NW; Enderley Street A34, Liverpool Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme ST5 2BS; and Ennerdale Road, Shrewsbury SY1 3LD. The company says its stores offer free parking, mobility access, and Wi-Fi; normal hours are shared across the four locations, though holiday and special-date schedules may differ.
The distribution centers on Manchester Street in Oldbury, B69 4HH, and Archers Way in Shrewsbury, SY1 3GA serve a different purpose: they are collection points for confirmed orders, not showrooms where customers can browse or buy directly. Cousins also advertises interest-free credit on selected products, subject to an affordability assessment and the finance provider’s terms. Knowing the difference between displays, ordering, and collection helps shoppers plan how to see and receive their furniture.
