Exotic Aquatics, marine and freshwater fishkeeping in Belfast

Exotic Aquatics is an aquarium store based at the Prince Regent Trade Centre in Belfast. The shop combines the sale of aquariums, equipment and fish food with maintenance, installation and custom setup design services. Its catalogue is organised around complete aquariums, electrical equipment, plant care, marine salt, water treatment, filter media, cleaning and food for freshwater, marine and pond fish.

Aquariums and brands distributed

The aquarium range includes several product families. From Aqua One, the OakStyle, World, AquaSys and ReefSys ranges are offered, along with the brand's complete line of aquariums. The ReefSys range, presented as the shop's most popular in the marine segment, incorporates additional depth to create reef landscapes, is sold in four sizes between 180 and 434 litres, includes a sump and pipework, and is available with six cabinet finishes. The OakStyle family is offered in nine finishes. The Horizon Line is aimed at both beginners and experienced hobbyists and is available in 65, 130 and 182 litres. The Mini Reef Line, with 90 and 120 litre aquariums in gloss black or gloss white, is designed for those starting out in reef keeping. The Nano range covers the needs of small spaces.

From Juwel, the Rio, Vision, Trigon, Lido and Primo lines are distributed. The Rio line is presented for its timeless design and technology; the Vision stands out for its curved front panel; the Trigon makes use of corners; the Lido is described as discreet and compatible with different environments; and the Primo is presented as a simple introduction with modern components. Aquariums from other brands are also sold, such as the AquaEl Opti 2.0 sets.

Equipment, food and water care

The electrical equipment catalogue covers heaters, internal and external filters and aquarium lighting. The plant care section includes fertilisers and nutrients. For marine setups, specific salts are offered. Water maintenance covers dechlorinators, bacteria, test kits and filter media, along with cleaning equipment. Fish food is divided into dry, frozen and pond food, and is complemented by medications. The shop also has gift vouchers.

Services: setup, installation and maintenance

In addition to sales, Exotic Aquatics provides specialised services. The custom aquarium service allows you to commission a bespoke setup working with the shop's suppliers. The delivery and installation service includes setting up the aquarium, adding substrate and decoration and filling it, so that the customer only has to choose the fish. Maintenance is offered for both domestic and commercial setups and includes cleaning and maintenance of filters, gravel vacuuming, water testing and deep cleaning. The company also supplies aquarium setups for film and television productions; among the cited works are its participation as a location in the film Ordinary Love, with Liam Neeson, and the supply of an aquarium for the BBC series The Fall.

Custom coral decoration

The shop offers a bespoke coral decoration service. The customer selects the ornament and the coral species they prefer and the team, with Elliott, described as their coral specialist, designs the piece for the aquarium. The service is arranged in person at the shop.

In-store service and online catalogue

The website warns that the full product catalogue is still being added to the platform, so it recommends calling by phone to enquire about items not listed. The shop offers in-store collection and the possibility of delivering aquariums on request. The team is presented as an experienced group that combines personal and professional service, and the company states it has received recognition for its work. The shop maintains a newsletter for news and offers and a contact form for enquiries.
