The Bath Priory is a luxury hotel and spa located on Weston Road, on the edge of Bath's historic centre. It occupies a Georgian house built in 1835 on land that once belonged to the Priory of Bath Abbey, with Gothic-style architectural features, on a tree-lined residential street on the west side of the city. The building was a private residence until the 1960s, when it was converted into a dormitory for The Park School; in 1969 it was transformed into a seven-bedroom hotel and in September 1994 it became the first hotel acquired by the Brownsword family. It is currently owned by Andrew and Christina Brownsword, and Gurval Durand holds the position of regional general manager.

The establishment presents itself as a peaceful retreat within a lively city, with four acres of mature, award-winning gardens, spacious terraces and a location that allows guests to reach Bath city centre on foot through Royal Victoria Park. The house is home to much of the Brownswords' private art collection.

The hotel has 27 rooms and six suites. The Camden and Somerset suites are configured as family rooms. Also within the grounds is Lindens House, a private residence offered as independent accommodation with the comforts of a country house hotel.

3 AA Rosette restaurant

The hotel's restaurant holds 3 AA Rosettes and offers modern European cuisine with views over the award-winning gardens. It serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, with seasonal dishes, select wines and attentive service. Non-residents can enjoy lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, with advance booking recommended. Afternoon tea is served daily from 12:30 to 16:00; full afternoon tea costs £50 per person and afternoon tea with Laurent-Perrier champagne, £73 per person. The dress code is smart casual, with no jacket and tie required.

The Garden Spa by L'Occitane

The hotel's spa, The Garden Spa, is the UK's only L'Occitane spa according to the establishment's information. It offers treatments with Provençal aromas in a serene setting. Non-residents can access it as day guests: the adult pass costs £40 and the child pass, £15, with the option of booking treatments separately.

Events, weddings and activities

The hotel hosts weddings, private dinners and celebrations, with the option of exclusive use. Wedding packages start from £230 per person. Activities on site include archery, axe throwing, laser clay pigeon shooting, garden tours, croquet, pétanque and yoga, as well as Bridgerton-inspired themed tours of Bath; most require advance booking. Themed dinners are also organised, such as the Harvest Gathering on 12 October at 18:30, in support of Hospitality Action, with dinner, immersive decor, live entertainment and a silent auction.

Guest services and conditions

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00; guests may arrive earlier or stay on afterwards to use the lounges and gardens. There is complimentary on-site parking, something unusual for a hotel so close to Bath city centre. Dogs are allowed in the Foxglove and Moringa rooms for £25 per dog per night, but not in the restaurant or the spa; assistance dogs are welcome throughout the hotel. Children of all ages are welcome, with smaller portions available from the main menus. The building is Georgian, so guests are asked to contact the hotel to discuss accessibility needs before booking. Gift vouchers are available for stays, spa days, dining and afternoon tea, and can be bought online in set values or as specific experiences.

Location and access

The hotel is on Weston Road, around one mile from Bath city centre. Bath Spa station is about a 10-minute taxi ride away and Bristol Airport is about a 40-minute drive.
