About Yuzu by Dan Moon
Yuzu by Dan Moon brings a professional chef’s cooking to homes, vacation properties, and event venues. Based in Bath, Dan Moon offers private dining across southwest England, with formats ranging from intimate dinners to weddings and celebrations for larger groups.
Moon’s career began in Devon after his family moved there from London during his childhood. At 15, he got his first weekend job as a kitchen porter and later studied catering at Exeter College while working in an AA-recognized kitchen. His biography traces a path from entry-level kitchen work to culinary training and professional cooking.
After moving to Bath, Moon received three AA Rosettes at Homewood Park Hotel in 2010 and was named Chef of the Year by the hotel group. The following year, he won a Caterer Acorn Award for young talent in hospitality. These dated milestones help place his career without replacing the specific details of what Yuzu offers today.
In 2016, Moon became executive head chef at The Gainsborough Bath Spa. During that period, he worked as a guest chef at group hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, an experience his biography says strengthened his interest in Asian flavors. In 2017, he received three AA Rosettes again, and the hotel was named AA Hotel of the Year; the property then created the restaurant Dan Moon at the Gainsborough.
The chef describes his cooking as a blend of classic flavors, Asian influences, and modern presentation. At Yuzu, that style is adapted to the venue and occasion and adapts each menu to the venue and occasion. The business offers private dinners, celebrations, weddings, corporate events, pop-up nights, and canapé service, with menus planned for each booking.
For a private dinner, the process starts with a consultation in which Moon discusses the group’s tastes with the host and creates a custom menu. He then cooks at the client’s home, vacation property, office, or Airbnb. He brings the cooking equipment and provides crockery, cutlery, and napkins; he also handles serving and cleanup so the host can spend time with guests.
Private dinners are designed for groups of six to 27. Moon mainly covers Bath and nearby areas and is available to travel across Wiltshire, the Cotswolds, Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall; the website also invites requests outside the usual area. For weddings and events, Yuzu offers custom packages with a kitchen setup, chef, and front-of-house staff, and lists capacity for up to 150 guests.
A few logistics are useful to know before booking. Some dietary needs can be accommodated when raised during the consultation, although certain ingredients depend on season, availability, and equipment. Crockery, cutlery, napkins, and placemats are included unless otherwise agreed; drinks, glassware, and table decorations are not part of the standard service.
Each booking brings together menu planning, cooking at the chosen venue, service, and cleanup. For hosts entertaining at home or in a rental property, the chef coordinates the meal while the host spends time with the group; larger events can include a kitchen setup and front-of-house staff.
