Vanshades is a British company specialising in privacy solutions and accessories for camper vans. Its main product is the Window Pod®, a blind system with a pre-assembled frame that provides blackout and thermal insulation. The company manufactures to order and sells online.

Window Pod®: blind system for campers

The Window Pod® is a vacuum-formed frame system that incorporates a blackout and thermal blind. It is designed as an alternative to curtains and aims for a modern finish inside the vehicle. It can be installed during the van conversion or retrofitted to existing conversions. All Window Pods® include the new Vanshades X blind system.

The product is available for the following vehicles: VW T5, VW T6, VW T7, Ford Transit Custom, Ford Transit Custom V710, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Nissan NV300 and Fiat Talento. It is offered in a version without carpet or with carpet in seven colours, and with fourteen blind colours. The company sends free samples of carpets and blinds.

Other products: Chair Pod®, Store Pod and more

The range includes the Chair Pod®, a system that stores two camping chairs in the rear tailgate; the Store Pod, a storage system designed specifically for the Volkswagen Transporter T6; and Splashbacks, protective panels manufactured from 5 mm cast acrylic or aluminium composite, laser-cut with polished edges. It also sells privacy windows made of tempered glass, compliant with TUV and CE safety standards, scratch and heat resistant. Among the accessories is the integrated LOC8 Table for VW T5 and T6 vans.

Manufacturing and environmental commitment

The company states that all its products are hand-built to order, so production times may vary. At the time of analysis, the site showed a lead time of 3 weeks. Vanshades claims that 100% of its plastic waste is recycled and turned back into usable materials.

Vanshades Verified and conversion network

Vanshades has a programme called Vanshades Verified, which brings together pre-approved van conversion companies. These companies receive Vanshades' approval to convert vehicles into approved homes.

Online shopping and customer service

The online shop allows you to purchase products and offers payment through Klarna. Some selected Window Pods® are available for express shipping. The company applies a no-quibble returns policy: it accepts returns of Window Pods® and repairs them under normal wear and tear conditions. The website includes installation guides and videos for the different products.
