The company produces replacement plates for all types of vehicles, including motorcycles and 4x4s, and sells them through its website with an online builder that lets you customise each plate.

Styles and materials

PlateLuxe's catalogue covers several manufacturing techniques. Standard plates are 2D printed on acrylic, with flat, crisp characters. 3D Gel versions feature raised polyurethane characters with a glossy, domed finish. 4D plates use laser-cut solid acrylic characters that stand 3 mm or 5 mm off the surface, available in gloss or matt finish. There is also a 4D Gel combination, which pairs the raised acrylic with the gel dome, and a bevel font option. Prices listed on the site start at £24.99 for the standard pair and go up to £54.99 for the bevel font style.

Formats and vehicles

The company makes plates for cars in the standard 520×111 mm oblong format, for motorcycles in 229×178 mm, and for 4x4s and vans in square sizes of 285×203 mm and 533×152 mm. It also offers short plates, tailored to private or dateless registrations, and hex-cut plates in 7, 6 and 5-character widths. Each range has specific guides on sizes and applicable regulations.

Ordering process and legal aspects

The online builder lets you enter the registration and see the design in real time with the style, borders, badges and final price. Customers can add logos, coloured borders and custom holders. For road-legal plates, it is mandatory to upload proof of identity and entitlement to use the registration, in accordance with UK regulations. PlateLuxe, as a DVLA-registered supplier, verifies those documents and keeps records. All road plates are made to BS AU 145e and are MOT compliant.

Manufacturing and shipping

Production takes place entirely in the company's own UK workshop: laser cutters for 4D characters and holders, presses for the plates and hand-finishing benches. Every order is made to order, checked by hand and packed with rigid protection. Orders placed on weekdays before 2:00 pm are pressed and dispatched the same day. The company states that delivery is usually the next working day across the UK.

Beyond the plate

As well as plates, PlateLuxe designs and makes luxury holders and custom laser-cut surrounds, which can include club crests, marque badges or bespoke wording. These products are also configured online and produced in the same workshop.
