Ashcombe Shooting Ground, clay shooting in Devon

Ashcombe Shooting Ground is a clay target shooting ground located on Colley Lane, Ashcombe, in the English county of Devon. The facility has been offering clay target shooting to the public for more than 30 years and, following a change of ownership, has established itself as one of the leading shooting destinations in the south of England, according to its own presentation. It is part of the Sportsman Gun Centre group.

Facilities and shooting disciplines

The ground has more than 100 automatic clay traps, allowing for a wide variety of target presentations. The disciplines available include practice shooting, lessons, competitions and English Sporting competition shooting. The company has also introduced a new driven game layout and more challenging high tower targets.

Services for shooters

The offering includes lessons with a professional-level instructor, group shooting experiences, corporate days and competitions on selected Sundays. Licensed shooters can practice without prior booking by turning up at the ground with their licence. For those without a licence or wishing to get started, experiences and lessons are available.

Memberships and gift vouchers

The ground has a membership programme and gift vouchers, presented as a gifting option. Gun fitting and gun and cartridge hire are also offered.

Archery and other activities

In addition to clay shooting, Ashcombe offers archery experiences, according to the company's description.

Competitions

The website announces shooting competitions and encourages visitors to check for new dates, with more competitions expected in 2026. Competitions are held on selected Sundays.

Sportsman Gun Centre group

Ashcombe Shooting Ground is the latest addition to the Sportsman Gun Centre group, a multi-award-winning group with several branches that support one another. The ground is closely linked to the group's retail side, so customers can buy the equipment needed for shooting at Sportsman Gun Centre.
