UK Jellyfish

UK Jellyfish, breeder and retailer of pet jellyfish

UK Jellyfish is a British breeder and retailer specialising in live jellyfish intended to be kept as pets. The company presents itself as one of the country's leading breeders and sellers of healthy jellyfish and operates its own breeding programme in the United Kingdom. Its catalogue is not limited to the live animal: it also covers the aquariums, food and accessories needed to keep them.

According to its own presentation, the company has been breeding and keeping jellyfish for more than eleven years. Over that time it has developed an in-house breeding system that allows specimens to be raised from their initial stage through to the medusa stage. The company describes its laboratory as the place where the stock it later sells is produced.

Live jellyfish and breeding programme

The core of the business is live jellyfish bred in its own facilities under quarantined conditions. The company states that its breeding programme produces healthy specimens and that it supplies hobbyists as well as aquariums and aquatic stores, among other customers.

The live animal catalogue includes different sizes of Moon Jellyfish: small, medium and large, as well as a mixed bundle of five jellyfish. The website indicated availability of the small and medium sizes at the time of analysis, and showed the bundle of five units at a reduced price compared with its original price.

Aquariums designed for jellyfish

The company designs and manufactures aquariums specifically for jellyfish, conceived from the outset for this type of animal. The website includes a section explaining why an aquarium designed for jellyfish is advisable, as well as its own range of aquariums for sale.

Food and accessories

Alongside the animals and aquariums, UK Jellyfish sells high-quality food for live jellyfish and the rest of the accessories needed to get started in keeping them. Among the products in the catalogue are a Seachem brand water treatment and an artemia cyst separator with 25 grams of Ocean Nutrition brine shrimp cysts.

The company also offers a food subscription service: regular home delivery of freshly hatched live artemia nauplii.

Bioluminescent algae

In addition to jellyfish, the company presents itself as a specialist breeder of bioluminescent algae in the United Kingdom, a product that appears as its own category within its catalogue.

Customer service and aftercare

The company offers an aftercare service and answers queries about its products by email and through a contact form on its website. The company encourages customers to get in touch if they need help keeping jellyfish.
