Whittard of Chelsea

Tea and coffee business founded in 1886, with hot chocolate, ceramics, equipment, and gifts, sold online and through British stores.

About Whittard of Chelsea

Whittard of Chelsea began in 1886, when twenty-five-year-old Walter Whittard opened a shop on Fleet Street in London. The Chelsea connection came later: in 1941 the business moved to 111 Fulham Road after its warehouse was destroyed during the war. The Covent Garden flagship opened in 1999. That history helps explain a brand bringing together tea, coffee, chocolate, and equipment, with online shopping and stores where customers can explore its selection.

Tea occupies an extensive part of the catalog. Black, green, white, and oolong teas sit alongside matcha, rooibos, chai, and fruit and herbal infusions. There are loose leaves and tea bags, as well as instant preparations and options for cold drinks. Earl Grey offers an introduction to the classic selection; other blends and formats provide different paths for customers varying their cup or choosing a gift.

Coffee comes as whole beans, ground coffee, pods, and brewing bags. Different roasts and origins include Guatemala Elephant, Monsoon Malabar, and Santos & Java. Flavored coffees and seasonal options also feature. Product descriptions and brewing guides connect the choice with the equipment available, from a simple steeped preparation to using a grinder and coffee maker.

Hot chocolate includes milk, white, and vegan options, alongside limited-edition flavors. Chelsea, Alice in Wonderland, and Tea Discoveries ceramic collections add another part of the experience: cups and serving pieces. Infusers, presses, grinders, frothers, and travel cups round out the equipment. Cookies, shortbread, and chocolate-covered coffee beans expand the accompaniments.

Gifts are organized by product and occasion, including corporate selections and sets combining drinks and accessories. Guides and articles develop preparation methods and ways to use the catalog. Taste Promise provides brewing advice and routes to exchanges or refunds under its terms, so customer support includes helping people use a product as well as selling it.
