Kilindi Zanzibar is a luxury boutique hotel located in Kendwa, on the island of Zanzibar (Tanzania). Its architectural complex is made up of a series of pavilion-style rooms with white domes, spread across 50 acres of tropical gardens. The original project was designed for Benny Andersson, a member of the 1970s pop group ABBA, and the result combines Scandinavian minimalism with the architectural accents of Middle Eastern heritage, within an open approach in contact with nature.

The pavilions and their private spaces

The accommodation is arranged in 15 eastern-style domed pavilions, integrated into the tropical garden. Each pavilion has a private plunge pool and a separate rainfall shower room attached to the room. These showers offer views of the ocean and an experience of direct contact with the natural surroundings. Inside, wooden-slatted shutters frame wide-arched windows facing the Indian Ocean, and the open ventilation allows the sea breeze to flow through the rooms.

Dining and common areas

The main pavilion houses a bar called 'waterfall', located next to a 25-metre infinity pool with views of the Indian Ocean. Meals are served on the outdoor terrace or on the white sandy beach that runs along the property. Each pavilion has a dedicated butler who suggests different locations for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Kilindi Spa and natural surroundings

In a quiet area of the tropical gardens is Kilindi Spa, which offers a range of treatments in a serene and elegant setting. The hotel's 'open-to-nature' approach defines the stay and creates a private, intimate and barefoot atmosphere. The property presents itself as accommodation especially oriented towards couples, with honeymooners a regular presence.
