About Bonus Bilförsäkring
Bonus Bilförsäkring: car insurance with premiums based on driving
Bonus Bilförsäkring is a Swedish insurance company specialising in car insurance that sets the premium according to how the policyholder drives. The company presents itself as an option that recognises good drivers and, in particular, those who have had only an isolated incident. Its approach is based on a mobile app that allows safe driving to influence the price of the insurance.
The company states that for each year without claims, the customer receives a discount on the deductible, regardless of which insurer they had before. This discount can reach SEK 2,000. It works through an app that the company describes as easy to use and that rewards safe driving.
Coverage options
Bonus Bilförsäkring's range is organised into three levels of protection, designed for different situations and vehicle ages.
- Trafikförsäkring (third-party liability insurance): mandatory coverage in Sweden for registered vehicles in traffic. It covers personal injury to the driver, passengers and third parties in an accident, as well as damage the insured vehicle causes to others' property. The company warns that the absence of this insurance may result in a fee payable to the Swedish Motor Insurers' Association.
- Halvförsäkring (partial insurance): an option normally aimed at owners of somewhat older cars, with a lower premium but without cover for damage to the vehicle itself. The company notes that it can also be an alternative for new cars, as these often have a manufacturer's own-damage warranty for the first three years.
- Helförsäkring (comprehensive insurance): the most extensive option, recommended for newer cars, for those who spend a lot of time behind the wheel or for those seeking solid protection. It adds cover for damage to the vehicle itself to the cover included in partial insurance.
Specific cover for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles
The insurer includes battery protection for electric and plug-in hybrid cars. According to the company's information, this cover includes roadside assistance if the battery runs out and also compensation for the charging point. The compensation levels are detailed in the full policy terms.
Comparison of cover and deductibles
Bonus Bilförsäkring's website offers a comparison between comprehensive, partial and third-party liability insurance. It details the cover and deductible amounts associated with each.

- All-risk: deductible of SEK 1,500.
- Roadside assistance: deductible of SEK 1,500.
- Legal protection: 20% of the cost, with a minimum of SEK 1,500.

The company also offers add-ons such as a replacement car and traffic accident insurance, which form part of the so-called Pluspaket. The deductible reduction and assistance are also included in that package.
