Travesía a nado Getaria-Zarautz

An annual open-water swimming event

The Getaria–Zarautz open-water swim is held each year between the towns of Getaria and Zarautz in Gipuzkoa. The 54th edition was scheduled for July 18 and 19, 2026. It is organized by Zarautz Balea Igeriketa K.E.

Races and distances

• ZMZ (Zarautz–Mollarri–Zarautz): 5,000 meters, Saturday, July 18
• GZ (Getaria–Zarautz): 2,850 meters, Sunday, July 19
• GZ Gazteak: youth races of 400 and 800 meters, Sunday, July 19

Open-water swimming sessions were also scheduled for July 26 and 27 for women taking on this type of crossing for the first time.

Participation

The event draws about 3,000 swimmers each year. The organizers have introduced a participant guidance service called 'Osatu zure testa,' with practical tips for preparing for the crossing.
